This serial extraction case had a permanent canine erupting mesially and into the adjacent teeth in the early mixed dentition. With the amount of crowding and loss of space he had we decided to do a serial extraction. 3 premolars and 1 permanent canine were extracted. Anyone know which canine was extracted?

A little transformation video showing growth changes with help over several years. As orthodontists, our speciality title usually includes dentofacial orthopedics which means we work to modify the jaw bones as well as move teeth. Fun fact : The most common procedure we do to modify jaw bones is a maxillary palatal expander. 1st image - The patient presents with a moderate class II and large overjet... 2nd image - Treated as a Phase I with a functional appliance (bionator) This was how he presented once all his permanent teeth were in. 3rd image - Final bite after braces and rubber bands

This patient came to us with 2 retained primary (baby) canine teeth and the permanent teeth missing. Many factors go into determining whether to open the space for a future implant or to close the space. For this case, due to the class 2 dental relationship and mild overjet, we decided to close the space which will save the patient the money of having to have two implants placed in the future. Initial:... Class 2 skeletal/dental Missing upper canines (#6 and #11) Mild overjet Treatment: Braces Class 2 elastics Extract #C and #H Substitute premolars for canines, finish class 2 molar

Ava had some minor crowding but the biggest concern for us was her bite. She did a terrific job with her rubber bands and was able to correct her overbite fully in addition to getting her teeth straightened. Thanks for being such a great patient @olsen_ava !! Initial:... Class 2 skeletal/dental Mild deep bite Mild overjet Mild upper/lower crowding Treatment: Braces Class 2 elastics

A simple case today, an anterior open bite can be caused by habits such as the tongue thrusting or from finger pressure. . . A simple tongue blocking appliance without braces sometimes results in bite closure on its own. This patient had her tongue crib in for ~4 weeks. @ Mint Orthodontics

What’s your favorite emoji?? . . Phase 1 .... . D.V. came to us about a year ago with a single tooth anterior crossbite resulting in gingival recession on her lower incisor. . It was important to correct the crossbite and prevent further trauma to the tooth and gums. . . We used an expander and braces to correct her alignment. We left the angulation of the upper lateral incisors topped intentionally to allow more space for future teeth to come in. Our main goals in Phase 1 are to correct any major issues not necessarily full and perfect alignment of the teeth. See more
