Mentorship makes a difference and you can see it in our numbers. We help more high achieving, low-income students apply to selective colleges and universities than the nationwide standard every year. Because of the pandemic, our students need guidance now more than ever to keep them on track. Mentor virtually with us this fall and make a difference in your community. Visit mindsmatterla.org/volunteers to apply. #mentorship #mindsmatter

Academic resources and college guidance aren't easily accessible for low-income, minority families. We aim to level the playing field by matching promising high school students with mentors who can help guide them on the right path. We're now accepting passionate volunteers to join our team! Having the right guidance can make a difference in the life of someone young. More than 50% of high achieving, low-income students nationally do not apply to selective universities. With the support and encouragement from mentors, 100% of our students apply to competitive universities, with 76% matriculating to a Barron's top tier college. Get involved and help transform young lives. https://mindsmatterla.org/volunteers/ #mindsmatter #mentorship #collegebound
A week ago the Supreme Court ruled to protect LGBT rights, something long overdue. Last Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that DACA could not be ended with the reasoning provided. It does not give DACA recipients a long term solution, but is a victory for undocumented students, known as Dreamers, who were brought to this country as children. Carlos, a Minds Matter of Los Angeles alumnus, speaks about what the decision means for him. https://www.marketplace.org//daca-recipient-supreme-court/
We honor Juneteenth and all this day represents, while recognizing how far we still have to go as a nation. https://www.usatoday.com//what-juneteenth-mean/5322164002/ #Juneteenth #blacklivesmatter

We seek to educate, mentor, and inspire students who are in search of a better future for themselves and their families. If you're at all inspired by recent events, get involved in your community. Help guide our future leaders. #mindsmatter #mentorship #collegebound
In order to break down barriers and provide opportunity for all, we must start by giving minorities equal access to a quality education. Income and race have long-played a role in educational disparities. We aim to close the gap by providing students with a space to amplify their voices and receive academic support to help them reach their full potential. We want to encourage students from underrepresented, low-income backgrounds to apply to our program. To learn more visit https://mindsmatterla.org/apply-now/
