Those who are able work tirelessly to bring you the fresh fruits ...and veggies you love every week. Have you heard about Market Match? Market Match is a program that allows CalFresh recipients to extend their budgets in the farmers' markets for the use of fruits and vegetables by matching up to $10 of their EBT allowance, essentially doubling their benefits. This means more fresh produce on families' tables, and more money being spent locally to help sustain small farms. In 2019, Santa Clara County received over $148,549 in Market Match at the PCFMA farmers' markets, extending to more than 2,656 households. Halfway through 2020, we have already seen more than 1,488 families spending over $68,238 in Market Match dollars at their local markets. If you have some extra grilled corn, here is a simple and delicious salsa recipe! Grilled Corn Salsa... Makes 3 Cups Ingredients: 3 ears of corn, grilled until the husk is evenly charred, de-husked and kernels removed 1 basket of cherry tomatoes, sliced in half 1 avocado, peeled, de-seeded and diced 3 stems of scallions, thinly sliced 1-2 tablespoons minced cilantro Lime juice to taste Olive oil to taste 1 Serrano chile, minced Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste Ground cumin to taste Method: Combine ingredients in a large bowl and serve over tortilla chips.
