The Rotary Club of Millbrae

The Rotary Club of Millbrae heard that many of our Millbrae families need dental health care that they can’t afford. #SonrisasDentalHealth is providing that care at low or no cost to those who need this help. Our Club voted to support this important health service with a donation of $500. By the way, sonrisas means smiles in Spanish. We are hoping this gift will bring more smiles to our Millbrae kids.

The Interview: at today’s meeting President Joe Teresi interviewed President Elect Philip Petro so we could all get to know Phil better. PE Phil said he got involved in the Rotary Club of Millbrae for the networking but stayed because he learned it was so much more. PE Phil, with a degree in Finance, became a Residential Realtor because he enjoys helping people, and he found that Rotary touches his heart in that same way. He is looking forward to his year as President, and is excited to continue making an impact in the community and in #rotaryd5150. PE Phil’s Induction ceremony will be June 22nd via zoom.

The Rotary Club of Millbrae and #MillsHighSchool #MillsInteractClub Met together to talk about the successes of our Mills students. Then the Interactors interviewed our RC members about their vocations, and advice for students preparing for and choosing a profession. We are so proud and grateful for all our Interactors do for our #CityofMillbrae.

District Governor Mary Bates paid a special visit today to install 3 New Members, and to recognize 5 Club donors receiving their Paul Harris Awards today. President Joe Teresi also announced the Members of the Month of December acknowledged Karen Bonavia Bettucchi and Debbie Van Wart for bringing special Holiday cheer to the whole community.

On this National Day of Racial Healing our speaker was Amy Lauer from the Millbrae AntiRacist Coalition, which goes by the acronym ARC. We heard what prompted local people to organize to help make our corner of the world a safe place to explore anti-racism, and to help bring about a more fair and just community.

The Rotary Club of Millbrae partnered with the City of Millbrae to reward creative pumpkin carvers in the community

The Rotary Club of Millbrae and the City of Millbrae Recreation Dept teamed up to sell low-cost pumpkin carving kits to local families. We distributed kits to 144 appreciative families last week. Special thanks to Youth Service Co-Chair Kristine Baltasar, the Interact Club of Mills High School, Rotarian Debbie Van Wart, Millbrae Recreation Staff, and Trader Joe’s for working together to implement this community project !
