Today we celebrate Juneteenth. A day that commemorates the date of June 19th 1865. The Emancipation of the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy. On this date the official journey towards equality and freedom began, and while the fight for equality continues to this day, I as an African American am proud to be able to live out my dream because those before me fought and died for freedom from enslavement.
