"A Life of Service": An interview with Dr. William Green, Minister Counselor (retired), US Dept. of State in MORSE B104 TOMORROW: February 22, 12-2 pm The Terrorism Studies Club and WIIS club are joint hosting Dr. William Green, recipient of the Diplomatic Security Service Director's Award (2001) for contributions to the development of the WMD Program used worldwide to protect US Embassies and domestic diplomatic facilities. Dr. Green served with the US Dept. of State from 1999-2015 in locations such as Nigeria, Serbia, Austria, Afghanistan, and Washington DC.

For people who have already taken DNA tests, this is the chance to share your findings and any surprises you may have encountered.

Cybersecurity Working Group presents speaker Dr. Herb Lin in B104 February 15, 12-2pm Dr. Herb Lin is senior research scholar for cyber policy and security at the Center for International Security and Cooperation and Hank J. Holland Fellow in Cyber Policy and Security at the Hoover Institution, both at Stanford University. His research interests relate broadly to policy-related dimensions of cybersecurity and cyberspace, and he is particularly interested in and knowledgeable ...about the use of offensive operations in cyberspace, especially as instruments of national policy. In addition to his positions at Stanford University, he is Chief Scientist, Emeritus for the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board, National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academies, where he served from 1990 through 2014 as study director of major projects on public policy and information technology, and Adjunct Senior Research Scholar and Senior Fellow in Cybersecurity (not in residence) at the Saltzman Institute for War and Peace Studies in the School for International and Public Affairs at Columbia University; and a member of the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. He recently served on President Obama’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity. Prior to his NRC service, he was a professional staff member and staff scientist for the House Armed Services Committee (1986-1990), where his portfolio included defense policy and arms control issues. He received his doctorate in physics from MIT. See more

Toastmasters Club meetings in MG 99 Tuesdays, 12-2pm MIIS Toastmasters is a place to practice public speaking in a supportive and positive environment and to develop communications and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. New and continuing members may work toward Toastmasters International certifications, and guests are always welcome. MIIS Toastmasters is open to students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the community.
