*long(ish) read* We progress this week, with our plan to discuss established brands that are waking up to #ethicalconsumerism, with VoVolvo Cars ... Now, the automotive industry is a confusing one. Transport is here to stay, regardless of whether we like it or not. More companies are going 'eco', but then there is the whole argument about what is costs the #environment to manufacture a car - even if it runs green. On top of this, why aren't more car companies using recycled materials, instead of leaving old cars to scrap and disintegrate in a field somewhere? However, we return to the issue that people still use cars. As such, what can we do to make them safer, but not just for the #averagemale? Most road safety is based around the impact on men: not women or children. Realising road safety remained a big problem within the car industry, Volvo took the bold step of promising that by 2020 no one will be killed in one of its vehicles. In their own words; ''When a woman steps into a car to drive, she assumes she’s safe. Yet in 2019, most automakers still produce cars based exclusively on data from male crash test dummies. We recently Tweeted about BandaBags and their stunning bags. But what about mainstream fashion brands or, more wide-scale, the brands we use day in, day out? This week, we are going to showcase some companies that try and make their products safer with a lower environmental impact than their competitors. After all, they are #activists in their field. Kicking things off, we have Jigsaw Whilst this may be controversial, they campaign to promote the benefits of immigration and h...ow they couldn't exist if it weren't for all the nationalities that contribute to making their clothes. Are they really as bad as Missguided ? Let's not even start on their 1 bikini... Not only that, but they are one of the few high street brands actively pursuing more #ethical factories and materials. Add to this that their clothes are well made and wonderfully designed; you won't be throwing them away quickly.
