Thought Leadership Delights When I say charisma, who comes to mind for you? ... Was it a politician? Movie star? Your cousin who lights up a room every time they walk in? We have a one-dimensional view of charisma in our popular media and conversation, and there’s a sense that charisma is something we either have or don’t have. That it’s not really something we can create and cultivate for ourselves. This is a complete misunderstanding. Charisma is actually something people experience around us, not so much something we carry around with us. We experience charisma when there is a combination of power and confidence plus warmth and connection. It’s really a dynamic, not a trait. And you absolutely can access your ever-present confidence (sometimes it’s just covered up with a lot of thinky thoughts, that’s all) and bring full presence and connection, anytime you want. It shows up in all varieties of styles, but your Natural Charisma is always ready to shine when you see what it’s really made up of. If you’re intrigued by this topic, I found The Charisma Myth by Olivia Fox Cabane a fascinating and helpful read.
