Blakemore Architects new Oceanfront Contemporary home receives California Coastal Commission and Design Review Board approvals in Laguna Beach.

Completed in 2008 the Simondi Residence was featured in Orange Coast Magazine. The 3400 sq. ft. contemporary home replaced the original 1500 sq. ft. bungalow. Openness is a feature of the home, although its well proportioned, modern exterior only hint’s at what is inside. From a sleek opaque front door visitors step into a main, open plan room that integrates space for living and dining, as well as kitchen, media room, and office. The owner requested a design that would reflect the traditional Mexican architecture of the region. The design solution marries a contemporary open floor plan with a traditionally styled exterior. The 4850 SF residence has 7 bedrooms 5 bathrooms, home office and a separate guest home. A large central great room organizes the plan. The great room opens to a terrace with a rustic Palo de Arco shade structure. Completing the luxurious resort feel of the home is a freeform infinity edge swimming pool with a swim up palapa bar and the white sand beach on the Sea of Cortez.
