Many of the Milpitas African Ancestry and multi-ethnic youth, families, community organizations/groups, elected officials and leaders are curious, empathetic, f...rustrated and angry over the racial discourse in America and deaths of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor and so many others. The Milpitas Police Department and residents Milpitians strive to keep ALL Milpitas children safe. To my friends who struggle to understand the true meaning of Black Lives Matter, or want to understand its true meaning, I'm not hard to find. We can agree to disagree in love and with respect. On Sunday June 7th, I invite you to get some exercise, get out of your comfort zone and hear the experiences, fears and concerns of Milpitas youth as they find their voices and purpose. See more

The Eve of Jackie presented by Tabia, African-American Theatre Ensemble (SJMAG) Student Performance Friday, Feb 7th, 10am 2pm... School of Arts and Culture Mexican Heritage Plaza The Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators is partnering with Tabia in presenting a special student program for African American youth on February 7th (10am) at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. See details below. The program includes a performance followed by a dialogue with students. We need volunteers to assist with the dialogue and engaging students in deepening their understanding about our history. You will need to arrive by 9am for a brief introduction to the dialogue. Please respond by January 31st to confirm your availability. We’re presenting the award-winning Broadway actor Chester Gregory in The Eve of Jackie. Gregory channels the dynamic spirit of Jackie Wilson: Mr. Excitement, one of the most influential artists in rock ‘n’ roll history, recreating his live concert on September 29, 1975. It is an evening where Wilson reveals his personal journey in show business. The show features hits such as "Lonely Teardrops," "To Be Loved," and "Higher and Higher. Chester Gregory has performed on Broadway in Hairspray, Tarzan, Cry-Baby, Dreamgirls and Sister Act. He has received numerous awards including the Joseph Jefferson and NAACP Theatre Award.
