Managing Anxiety Workshop (Open to Students) May 12, 2020 | 02:00 PM This workshop, given by FLC DSP&S Counselor Andrea Roberge & FLC College Nurse Mary Hansen, will provide some helpful ways to manage anxiety. These supportive techniques can assist you with relaxing and managing anxious feelings in the moment. Regular use of these methods can help prevent anxiety. We will introduce a variety of stress control techniques. Learn about tapping, conscious breathing, and how to avoid ruminating thoughts. Outreach and Service by IU School of Optometry You're invited to a community Zoom conversation.... Volunteering around the world, establishing clinics and services in Africa and Jamaica, the IUSO community is dedicated to providing vision care to the underserved while strengthening the clinical skills of our students. Join the IU School of Optometry in an online Zoom conversation with Director of Residencies, Dr. Don Lyon, and Chief of Pediatric and Binocular Vision Service, Dr. Katie Connolly , along with 3rd year optometry student Natalie Kurth. We will learn of the motivation that drives these faculty to establish programs and provide much needed eye care in other parts of the world. Also, we’ll learn how the joys of service and lessons learned outside the classroom have bolstered Natalie’s IUSO student experience. If you are still procrastinating your application, its time to get moving!! Official transcripts and faculty letters of recommendation are still required to submit a complete GMiS STEM Scholarship application.... Applicants are invited to visit the GMiS Website for further details on the application requirements, - personal statement, official transcript, resume, faculty letter of recommendation and peer letter of recommendation. GMiS merit-based scholarships range from $500 - $10,000. These scholarships are offered through the generous contributions from leading Fortune 500 companies, national government agencies, and private donors. Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievement, leadership, service and campus/community engagement. SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Hispanic descent and/or demonstrate significant leadership or service within the underserved community; Graduating high school seniors, undergraduate students or graduate students; Pursuing or intending to pursue a science, technology, engineering, math or health-related field of study at an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the U.S. or its territories; and Possessing an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
