Making bird/squirrel feeders today. Such a wonderful tactile experience.

Where there’s a will there’s a way! These two figured out how to get the one guy up there to be able to hang from the tree. Team work makes the dream work!

Counting pumpkins and hopping games this morning ~

Home baked banana bread muffins warm out of the oven and so much more for lunch today~

We were digging in our critter compound and unearthed many grubs this morning.

Exploring a big wriggle ~

All the big hungry fishes in our pond! Last year we got a bag of feeder fish thinking only a few would survive.....Now we have a school of big fishes!

Open ended materials or loose parts are available to the children here at Merry Garden Preschool. The most valuable, creative materials are those that children can make an impact on. They can move them, build with them, stack, arrange, tear down, rearrange, use them as props for imaginative play, create their own structures for gross motor activity, and even incorporate them into games with rules. Through their play the children develop mastery of their physical and social environment. In short, every major form of play uses loose parts. The varied landscape here at Merry Garden Preschool lends lots of opportunity for safe climbing and jumping and other gross motor skill development ~
