Although demand is down slightly from the fall peak, the fact that nearly twice as many second-home buyers submitted applications in January as the year before means the popularity of vacation towns is not a fad, says Taylor Marr, an economist for real estate brokerage Redfin. Many Americans have realized remote work is here to stay, allowing some fortunate people to work from a lakefront cabin or ski condo indefinitely.

In sharp contrast to the slacker stereotype that has defined their generation, millennials aren’t living in parents’ basements. They’re buying multimillion-dollar homes. In the past, people bought a modest property, lived in it until starting a family, and then traded up to a larger property, he says. Millennials are finally coming out of the gate, and it’s not uncommon for the first purchase as a first time homebuyer to be a multimillion-dollar luxury home in the U.S. or internationally. As a result, millennials are quickly becoming a dominant force in high-end real estate.

Super ecstatic for my friend and buyer, Mario, who just closed escrow! This super cute corner lot home is a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with an expansive yard on 6,300 square foot lot in a desirable area of Upland - close to downtown, shopping centers and easy access to the 10 freeway. It has been with the previous family for many, many years and now Mario plans to update the entire home with new tile, new cabinetry, tearing out the carpet, adding an second bathroom, new ...landscaping.. to name a few. Can’t wait to see the After photos which I will be posting on here. Congratulations Mario! I’m grateful to have been chosen your real estate agent during these wild times! Challenge (offer) accepted in 2020 and closed in 2021! #homes #househunting #interiordecor #interiordesignideas #homerenovation #homerenovations #remodeling #homeremodeling #upland #downtownupland #sanbernardino #sanbernardinomountains #homeinspo #homecooked #moving

Cash sales plummeted in California due mostly to 2020’s record-low mortgage interest rates. This means that, even when homebuyers had access to cash, it made more sense for them to purchase their home using a mortgage with a sub-3% interest rate in order to invest their cash elsewhere. Another reason for fewer cash sales is the absence of investors particularly speculators in 2020’s tumultuous housing market. With home prices at all-time highs and home sales volume slowing, it’s simply not a prudent time to invest in a home unless the homebuyer plans to live in it for a period of several years.
