Lauren Robertson with the Pine Mountain FSC shared the following about local the wildfire camera network. "The Alert Wildfire folks at the Univ of Nevada at Reno have installed a fire camera on Laughlin Peak. Today, the administrator has pointed the camera at Willits so we can see the view. When it's pointed south, there is a beautiful view of Ukiah Valley.... The camera rotates and will be pointed immediately towards any new fires. It's real time and a wonderful addition to our community. They've also added cameras at Black Oak and in Eden Valley. These new cameras join the already-existing camera in Redwood Valley. You can see these cameras by going to alertwildfire.org and selecting Northcoast." www.alertwildfire.org [2] All the best,

On December 4-5 CAL FIRE will be conducting a prescribed burn tomorrow in partnership with the Hopland Research Center. The burn will take place on Hopland Research Center property, located on University Road in Hopland. It will begin at approximately 9:00 A.M. and will conclude at approximately 6:00 P.M. each day. Aircraft and smoke will be visible in the Hopland area, East of Highway 101 and North of Highway 175. The burn will be conducted under very tight restrictions for the personal safety of firefighters and area residents. If there are any indications that the burn cannot be conducted in a safe manner, such as high winds or local fire activity, the burn will be cancelled. CAL FIRE reminds all residents that their safety is of the utmost concern.
