Do you know about our Priority Oriented Policing (POP) Unit? One POP Officer position is funded by Measure Q. This POP Officer serves our Community in a variety... of ways. Sometimes they’re searching for violent criminals or providing high-visibility patrols around our business and residential communities. Other times you will find this specially trained officer working with our Youth and Families to make sure they’re aware of the dangers of street gangs. The POP Officer offers classes to parents or school faculty through one of our Community Programs to provide education on the signs and dangers of gang involvement. The POP Officer will also be working with our Juvenile Education Welfare Liaison (JEWL) Officers to help mentor at-risk youth. During the health orders, we can’t offer in person classes right now. But we don’t want that to stop us from delivering important information. Please join us for a webinar on Gang Awareness for Families. This class is offered to our Community and especially Parents wanting to know more about the dangers of Gang Involvement and how to prevent this dangerous behavior. Sanitation has ALWAYS been a priority at Melody’s Pond Preschool PRIOR to Covid-19. We are continuing to be vigilant in our cleaning regiment by disinfecting light switches, doorknobs, and any frequently touched surfaces. All staff is trained in frequent and proper hand washing and has been instructed to stay home at any sign of illness. Saturday, September 19th 2020 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lot at 371 S. 23rd St. Residents of Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, and unincorporated West Contra Costa County (except Kensington) can take advantage of the event and must bring proof of residency. They can properly dispose of paints, aerosols, electronic waste (e-waste), batteries, and oil for free. Mattresses will also be accepted.
