My practice of yoga and standing on nails definitely came in handy moreso than ever in 2020 and inspired me for this series of work. Cathedral Satellite Beacon no. 22 Launching from a Bed of Nails. 5x8x16, Acrylic on wood and metal, 2020... I stand on 67 sharp nails and meditate. I feel pain at the pressure points on my feet. As I relax into these sensations, I focus on my breathing. Rapid pranayama breath 108 times followed by holding my breath until I no longer can. I exhale imagining my mind-self entranced by the next Cathedral Space Beacon into a transformation of shapes and colors. I discover more revelation with each subsequent breath. There is no more feeling of pain. Only rolling waves of deep well-being. Mela M4

Day # 6 of the Women's Art Challenge. Thank you Bonita Helmer for this invitation to post my work. Today, instead of my own, I would like to offer a post of one of my favorite artists, Hilma af Klint, "The work of the first abstract artist was unseen in her lifetime, and was not exhibited until the 1980s" Hilma af Klint, The Swan, No. 12, 1907 https://www.royalacademy.org.uk/article/hilma-af-klint... http://artmarketmag.com/hilma-af-klint-paintings-for-the-f/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilma_af_Klint
