As the industrial sewing industry began to change in the early 90s, Meissner Sewing began change as well. After over 60 years of focusing primarily on industrial sewing machines, Meissner Sewing began to shift its focus to household sewing machines. Jim's wife Cindy joined the business to help navigate this new uncharted territory. While industrial machines are still an important part of our stores to this day, this began our transformation into the Meissner Sewing many of you know today.

In 1982, James Meissner purchased the location at Business 80 and El Camino. This larger location helped Meissner Sewing grow to become a wholesale and retail distribution center for the 13 western states and one of the largest industrial sewing machine companies in the nation. This Sacramento location is still open today and has expanded and changed many times, becoming one of the largest sewing machine showrooms on the West Coast.

In 1971, James Meissner started working full time in the family business. As Meissner Sewing grew, he opened a second Sacramento location in 1974 on the corner of 19th and W. This is actually a paper advertisement from that store in 1979! It's amazing to see how advertising has changed since then and now. Meissner Sewing continued to grow until it had to move again, finally moving to the location of our current Sacramento superstore in 1982.

Connie and Wes recently visited our Sacramento store for help with their machine. They felt so at home and welcomed by our staff that they came in today to give us a thank you cake! We love helping our customers and it warms our hearts to see that kindness returned. Thank you so much!
