"You would probably be horrified by the drugs we dump down the drain. There's not many that are considered biohazards. We frequently crack jokes about how the drug addicts need only hang out at our sewer connection to get their fix, although they would be fighting with some angry fish defending their turf (the fish have been getting such a steady stream of narcotics and benzodiazipines they are probably more addicted then the crackheads on the street corner). Any day we don't do a lot of drug wastes, we crack jokes about the poor fish going through withdrawls.

Be nice to your Doctors. They work under stress with people who are cranky and ill. They deal with blood and phlegm and mucus and rotting infection. Then they fill out paperwork for insurance people... who are not always the most pleasant, either. All this with zero tolerance for mistakes and possibly severe sleep deprivation. After all that... they still remember which medical waste container to throw that piece of gauze into. Doctors and Nurses deserve a hand

There aren’t any Federal infectious medical waste disposal regulations about how frequently you need to schedule medical waste disposal pickup at this time. This issue was left for each State to decide what their regulations will be. OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard does not address this issue either.
