Pete and Nellie were used for local deliveries on Saturdays and even for some long hauls in areas around Athabasca to St. Albert, Alberta (Canada). During winter months, a sleigh was used. On my Birthday weekend I decided to ask my mare Bizzy, who since having her filly 18 months ago has only gone on a couple of trail rides and worked/roped the st...eers in the arena a few times, to step into the extreme cowboy arena and show me what she’s got. I was so impressed with this chubby little mare. She did everything I asked of her and came home with a third place ribbon in the green horse divison on both days. This was day one of two days and they set a different course each day. The next post will be from day two which was even better. This is how I spent my 53rd birthday! Two days of Extreme Cowboy Racing! We had a great time and enjoyed sharing the event with so many good riders! Cody and I ...rode in Intermediate, the biggest class with 14 teams! We didn’t place in the top six but day two was better than day one and this race was better than the last. That’s why we do it! He really tried hard to keep his head on the precise, slow stuff so that is where I need to work next. Even Bizzy got in on some of the action and brought home two third place ribbons in her green horse class. It was only her second race and I was proud of her. Thank you Shades of Gold Ranch, our judge Gary and all the volunteers that made this event happen and to Laura Roberts for taking photos. I can’t wait to see what she caught on film! These pics were caught by friends and my hubby who came out to cheer me on and help me hold my horses! October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
