Dear FB fans, There is a couple of proposed bills sitting in Florida right now that propose a temporary prevention for persons who sound dangerous to themselves or others from purchasing firearms. I have written the following letter to two Florida legislators, Lori Berman and John Cortes. I encourage you to contact your friends and families in Florida, if you have any, and encourage them to write to their legislators, supporting the two bills. And I encourage you to write to... them yourselves as well. Here is what the bill says: http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2018/231 and here are the two emails: [email protected], [email protected] Feel free to use my writing, or change it as you deem necessary and send your version. Dear Ms. Berman and Mr. Cortes, I am writing to urge you to support the passing of HB-231 and SB-530 ERPO for Gun Violence Restraining Orders. As a mother, I can only imagine the pain that those who have lost their innocent children to gun violence must be feeling. As a psychologist, I am here to attest that persons articulating, presenting, or even hinting at homicidal ideation are to be taken quite seriously. Their threats are often calculated and with intent, as was the case with the recent shooter at Parkland High School. I urge you to take my plea from across the nation in California seriously. The wellbeing and safety of my fellow citizens in Florida is paramount. I request your prompt attention and support to help pass the two proposed bills, prohibiting persons with homicidal ideation from purchasing or possessing firearms. Sincerely yours,

Watch this incredibly important, eye-opening video about the difference between happiness and pleasure, and how the food we take, among many other factors, of course, plays a strong role.

Social-Emotional Well-Being of Children Ages 10-13 in School Winning through the conflicts of schoolyard, forming deeply bonded friendships, and improving relationships with the school personnel are the highlights of this 4-week class. Pre-adolescence is an age when much is happening in the mind and in the body as children are growing out of childhood into a bigger body and a bigger mind. Meanwhile, children who often experience troubled relationships are particularly misunde...rstood by their peers and even by their teachers. Concepts such as fairness and structure, predictability and routine mean a lot to them, and yet unspoken rules and incongruencies between what people say and how they act can cause anxiety and overwhelming feelings of discomfort. This workshop is taught by Ms. Tu Hoang, Marriage and Family Therapy Intern. Tu brings a beautiful sense of calm and comfort and fun when she teaches workshops and works with children. During each hour-long class, children will experience lots of opportunities to role-play and see the differences between expected versus un-expected reactions to conflict. They are taught how to recognize and name their own emotions and notice the proper size of reaction to small versus larger problems. Tu brings in visual aids, games, cards, and a great opportunity for the children to have adventure and fun in these 4 weeks, learning social and emotional skills while forming new friendships. When: 4 Saturdays: October 1, 2016 to October 22, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Where: Conference Room of Feeling Good Therapy and Training Center of Fremont. 39210 State Street, Suite 200, Fremont CA 94538 Tel: 510-896-8958 Cost: $150 To register: https://form.jotform.com/62156527995165
