Giving is receiving is clearly true in the world of volunteering. Kurth DeMoss, First Vice President - Senior Special Assets Officer at East West Bank, starte...d volunteering for Medical Mission Adventures (MMA) in 2012 to help provide free mobile medical care across Los Angeles County. Kurth’s role has since expanded to being a board member and the treasurer for the organization. We embody teamwork and a family, says Kurth. It’s not always pleasant, and things change all the time, so we have to adapt, be nimble, and laugh together. However, there are few rewards in life better than receiving a simple smile or hug from a grateful patient who has received needed medical treatment and encouragement in their life. In 2018, MMA’s 17 mobile clinics, staffed by 706 volunteers, treated 859 patients and provided 1,087 medical, dental and optical services. Thanks for your volunteer work, Kurth! #EWBCommunitySpotlight
