"In applying a vague, standardless penalty and then referring this case to the Board to resolve, Facebook seeks to avoid its responsibilities. The Board declines Facebook’s request and insists that Facebook apply and justify a defined penalty." The Facebook Oversight Board's decision is generating a lot of buzz, but here's the tl;dr: they took 5 months to say they won't take the case after all, then gave FB 6 months for additional performance and stalling. Waiting until the Capitol was overrun by white supremacists to ban Trump was too little, far too late. The Oversight Board decision isn't a victory, it's passing the buck.
