McSwain Staff and Community, The support of the McSwain community has always been an essential part of the well-rounded education that our school provides to our students. Out of a desire for full transparency, we felt it would be appropriate to inform the community that there will be a McSwain School Board meeting tomorrow evening, January 12, at 6:00 p.m. Attached is the agenda. Please pay special attention to Action item VIII Approve Resolution 2021-10 Reduction/Disco...ntinuance of Particular Kinds of Service: Submitted for your consideration is the request to approve Resolution #2021-10 Reduction/Discontinuance of Particular Kinds of Service. This discontinuance refers to eliminating the librarian position at McSwain which is currently filled by Mrs. Douglas. In the past few years McSwain has eliminated band, art, technology, and now our librarian. While we understand that the District has to budget responsibly, there is still too much fiscal uncertainty to cut such a foundational element of our instruction, especially when the state has recently promised a record-setting budget for K-12 schools. If this is something you feel is important, it’s essential you reach out to board members by calling or writing a letter that can be read at the meeting tomorrow night. Letters can be submitted by email to [email protected]. Letters must be received by 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, 1/12. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Inspiration for this first week of distance learning-

I was thinking if we have to wear mask these might be cool so at least the students will actually be able to see our face more. I feel like it would be better for the school cultural and social environment if the students are able to see our faces. I emailed Lanum but haven’t heard back from her. She is probably really busy. There were 569 films produced by 1,000 middle and high school students from throughout the Valley. Congratulations! We are so proud of our students!
