"10/09/2020 Counties Reopening & Medical Massage CAMTC COVID-19 Bulletin #37 Dear CAMTC Certificate Holders:... Did you know that as of today, 42 counties in California allow massage to occur indoors, with modifications? In the other 16 counties massage can still take place outdoors, with modifications. Please see CAMTC’s interactive County Massage Reopening Map to view see the status of your county, and other useful information specifically related to massage, at: https://www.camtc.org/county-massage-reopening-map/ Additionally, in all counties in California medical massage may take place indoors, unless prohibited by the county. Medical massage has been defined by the State as massage performed pursuant to a referral from a Physician or Chiropractor. Recently the California Department of Public Health, Essential Services Inquiries clarified the definition of medical massage by stating the following: "Medical Massage is massage that is done based on a referral from a doctor or chiropractor. Medical Massage can be done indoors as it is considered essential as healthcare and therefore not under personal services. There is no requirement that it be in a medical office, only that it be done based on a referral from a doctor or chiropractor. If you need further clarification as to what qualifies as medical massage, please send those inquiries to: [email protected] We hope you find this new information useful. Take Care and Stay Healthy! "09/11/2020 Status of Massage Reopening CAMTC COVID-19 Bulletin #36 The current status of massage is constantly evolving. Every Tuesday at noon the State updates county statuses in its Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which may mean a change in the status of massage. Currently, 32 out of the 58 counties allow all types of massage to occur indoors, with modifications. In all other counties massage is allowed to occur outdoors, with modifications. Please go here to see the curre...nt status of your county: https://www.camtc.org/county-massage-reopening-map/ Additionally, the California Department of Public Health’s Essential Services Inquiries stated that medical massage (massage done based on a referral from a doctor or chiropractor) is permitted by the State to take place indoors in every county as an essential service, as long as the county has not banned indoor medical massage from occurring. Please check with your local county to confirm what is currently allowed. For those providing services in LA County please note that the county has recently confirmed that only physician ordered massage is allowed to be conducted indoors as long as the same protective measures described in the County’s protocol for personal care services that are conducted in outdoor spaces are adhered to. In all cases, massage may occur outdoors in LA county with modifications. Please see the new guidance here: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov//Reopening_PersonalCare.p. Take Care and Stay Healthy!
