DID YOU KNOW WE OFFER REGENERATIVE THERAPY? Regenerative medicine is a broad definition for innovative medical therapies that will enable the body to repair, replace, restore, and regenerate damaged or diseased tissues. We are excited to be able to offer this cutting-edge therapy to our patients! Primarily used to treat arthritic animals and those with tendon and ligament injuries, this therapy involves harvesting stem cells from a patient's fatty tissues and injecting those ...cells back into the affected area on this same patient. VetStem Regenerative Medicine can also be used to treat other ailments such as osteoarthritis, and cartilage defects in horses, dogs, and cats. HOW DOES IT WORK? The term autologous means "from self" and as such there is no risk of rejection. Cells are harvested, purified and concentrated and then injected into the affected joints. Recovery time after fat harvesting is similar to a standard spay surgery and limited activity is recommended a few days after the joint injections. This therapy currently has a great success rate with about 80% of dogs showing improved quality of life. Stem cells are unique in that they differentiate into many tissue types to induce repair, decrease inflammation, stimulate regeneration, communicate with the surrounding cells and create the optimal environment for healing. To learn more about how VetStem Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy may help your pet, request your pet's appointment today and call us at the hospital at 818-602-4857.

You Don't Want Lyme With Your Corona! Flea, tick and heartworm prevention isn’t just a summer thingyear-round protection from these pests could be a life saver. With more people out and about with their pets in an effort to get out of the house, parasite prevention is especially critical. Ticks carry Lyme disease, which is zoonoticmeaning it can be passed to peopleand mosquitos are responsible for spreading heartworm, a deadly parasite that often goes undetected in pets un...til it is very advanced. Fleas can transit tapeworm and even make your pet anemic. Because flea, tick, and mosquito numbers are tied to heat and humidity, an early spring or a warm, wet fall can make these insects active earlier and later in any season. There’s really no way to time the preventive medications so that your pet is safe, so the best way to avoid disease is by keeping your pet on parasite prevention throughout the year. At MVC, we stock a wide array of flea and tick preventatives including the new Simparica Trio! Get in touch with us for convenient, contact-free curbside pickup by calling 818-306-3508
