Yes, yes. Clients should know who their looking for when they show up to the salon. Me, still trying to never post myself A lil’ sum ‘bout me- I’m Maya. I’m Black & white. I’m passionate about mental health, BLM and furthering my knowledge on BIPOC history in America. I like dead bugs and you’ll probably never see me in a full shirt ... I started doing hair because despite the fact that my Mom kept my siblings and I braided up- No one could really do our hair. Every salon we would venture to always wanted to straighten our hair or left us looking tore up for an outrageous price w/ no advice on a hair care routine that we could continue at home. There wasn’t the abundance of YouTube education for anyone with textured hair and it seemed like no one REALLY knew what to do with it. Paired with the struggle of being mixed- Too white for the Black kids and too Black for the white kids- I was usually left feeling like a pariah. My shared goal with my partner @hairartistry_bycarly is too provide a safe space where ANYONE can come and be served, receive love and education. (Tightly coiled, curly, straight, wavey, we got ya ) We want you to walk out with knowledge and a renewed sense of love for yourself and your hair. ONE MORE THANG.
