This is a picture of a heart of a newborn. So tiny in the hands of this surgeon, but this picture speaks volumes. The skill of the ultrasound technician to hop...efully find the defect early, the expertise needed for the surgeon to operate, the knowledge of the professionals to assist, the care of the nurses to help heal, the strength and power of the family and children to comfort. And so, so much more. How is this possible? How can a surgeon operate on something this small? How have we learned so much about this tiny organ. I'll tell you how. RESEARCH. Research in the area of Congenital Heart Defects has grown drastically over even just the last 10 years, and it's because of research that surgeons, doctors, researchers, and hospitals have been able to make the impact in the CHD world that has resulting in nearly a 20% survival increase in just the last 10-15 years. Here at the CHD Coalition, we have granted more than $500,000 to research programs. And we've been able to do that because of our incredible fundraising efforts by amazing contributors such as yourself. Please help us fundraise for CHD Research and join us for our Virtual CHD Walk for Hope by registering here: https://chdcoalition.org/what-we-do/walk If you can't join this year, but would still like to make a donation (all of the proceeds of this event go to CHD Research), please click here and click on "Donate to this Event": https://events.chdcoalition.org/index.cfm If you would like to learn more about the research projects we have helped fund through our half million dollars of past donations, please click here: https://chdcoalition.org/what-we-do/chd-research We humbly thank you. <3
Please delete if not allowed! I just had to share with someone because it’s a sore subject around our house. My father in law passed away in April, for 6 years ...him and his girlfriend tried so hard to grow pumpkins in our fields. Well last Halloween we had a pumpkin sitting on a sand stone bench from a barn he was raised around, he became very ill and the pumpkin rotted and fell to the ground. Around may I seen what looked to be a zucchini plant but remembered there was a pumpkin there. Fast forward to now we have a baby pumpkin growing! The man tried so hard to grow a pumpkin. He could grow absolutely anything but a pumpkin wasn’t one of them. He was one of my favorite people on this whole planet , I think he’s telling us all is well See more

Merry Christmas Friends... My wife and I have decided that we have been so blessed this past year that instead of getting each other a Christmas present we are ...going to share our good fortune by providing the gift of a warm jacket for the kids from our local Ridge Boys and Girls Club. There are 24 young people here that need a warm coat (12 boys & 12 girls) and we are going to buy as many as we can afford ... if anyone else would like to do this as well contact me for sizes and where to drop them off.... May you all be well this Christmas season Steve & Maureen Culleton See more

If God puts a Goliath in front of you, He must believe that there’s a David inside of you. Calling all prayer warriors! As many of you may know, our son, Lyam... (meaning strong-willed warrior), was born 12-5-19 with a serious heart defect (hypoplastic left heart syndrome with aortic stenosis and AV canal). He faced his 1st open heart surgery at 5 days old, was discharged on 1-31-20, and able to be with our family in our apartment until March 26. On March 26, Lyam went in for his 2nd stage open heart surgery, an emergency take-down open-heart surgery on April 15, and he remains in the hospital with heart failure and kidney failure, on ECMO life support and CRRT dialysis support. He has beat sepsis multiple times and his lungs have come back even though doctors didn’t think they would. He has already beaten the odds. However, doctors yesterday told us there is nothing more they can do for Lyam. They will not consider him for heart transplant or kidney transplant. We just need one person, one team to believe in Lyam like we believe in him. The God given will to live, that Lyam has so greatly shown, has to count for something besides folks just feeling, statistically, that he has low chances to survive. We are not giving up yet. Therefore, we are calling on you for help. Lyam’s only chance will he a heart/kidney transplant. If there is one thing about social media that is powerful, it is getting news to spread like wildfire. We hope you will consider sharing this post. Our hope is that one surgeon, one transplant team, or one medical person somewhere in this world, will see the post and message us with options. We know this is a long shot, but it’s the last shot we have.
