Still saving the world, one computer at a time. Who’s next?
So in the past I've offered a deal around the holidays: if a client buys a new computer, I will set up up for them, transfer all the documents/pictures/music/video to the new system, set up a backup, add it to their existing network, connect it to their printer, etc. My fee was, I get to keep the old computer (I'd wipe the hard drive, of course). What do you think, should I run it again? It's a pretty good deal for the customer, and it gives me a chance to help people out during the holidays without breaking the bank.
Like many of you, I have been spending the past week or two with family, and just enjoying the holidays. But after the first of the year, it's back to work. Let me know if your tech - new or old - could use a little TLC.
I was given the choice to either raise my rates or close the office and work out of my home. So effective today I am closing the office. Fear not, Matt the Computer Guy is still on the job, still here in Simi Valley, and still reachable at (805)416-3921.
Someone asked me about the idea of keeping computers in a car in hot weather. Avoid it, if you can. The guts of a computer are very susceptible to heat. That why they have fans built in, to keep them cool. Even at room temperature, a computer needs those fans running at all times to keep from overheating. So if you can avoid keeping your laptops and tablets in a hot car, do it.
