Did you know that August was Muslim American Appreciation & Awareness Month? Assemblymembers Bill Quirk (D-Hayward), Assemblymember Kansen Chu, (D-Milpitas) and Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) authored Resolution 118 that made August 2018 as Muslim American Appreciation & Awareness for the third consecutive year. Thank you! This was the display at the entrance of the Weekes Branch Library in Hayward.... We thank the efforts of the City of Hayward - Government and CAIR - San Francisco Bay Area for making this happen! Also, on Friday, September 21, on behalf of Barbara Halliday for Hayward Mayor, Assistant City Manager David Korth presented a proclamation of appreciation to Hayward's Muslim community after meeting with CAIR-SFBA's Sameena Usman Usman and several congregants of the American Muslim Association (AMA), which is also known as the Gading Masjid.

Eid ul-Fitr will be on Friday, June 15, 2018. Come join us at Masjid Abu Bakr Al Siddiq for prayers. There will be two prayer services: Takbeerat Begin at 8 a.m.; First Prayer: 8:30 a.m. Takbeerat Begin at 9:30 a.m. Second prayer: 10 a.m.... Fitra: If you have not done so already, please remember to pay the Fitra before the prayer starts. The Fitra is $7.00 per each family member. There is a Fitra box at the masjid. Please also remember to be silent and listen to the Imam’s Khutba after the prayer. Ibn Abbas R.A reported, the Prophet PBUH made Zakat ul Fitr compulsory so that those who fasted may be purified of their idle deeds and shameful talk (committed during Ramadan) and so that the poor may be fed. Whoever gives it before Eid Salat will have it accepted as Zakat, while he who gives it after the Salat has given Sadaqah. Abu Dawood
