In this historic election, we have seen massive turnout nationally with over 145 million voters casting their vote in this critical election. Our democracy prev...ails when everyone has the right to vote in a safe and secure environment and know that their votes will be counted. Our communities continue to face an uphill battle of voter suppression, spread of misinformation, and other obstacles including a global pandemic. However, that has not deterred communities of color from turning out in strong numbers. This is due to many organizations and organizers on the ground who have worked tirelessly over the years. We at MAS are honored to play our part by engaging our members and communities in key states to turn out the immigrant, refugee and Muslim votes. MAS' voter engagement and outreach activities, including phonebanking, texting, webinars, and social media campaigns allowed us to be impactful in this election. As we continue to break down the data, we currently show that we have called and texted over 185,000 voters in key states across the country, including states like Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida. Our election protection team observed over 50 polling locations nationally. We are deeply grateful to our members, volunteers, and phonebankers for all the hard work they put in to take us across the finish line. As the results continue to come in, we reiterate the message of hope and unity for the American people. Democracy must prevail. We encourage that all votes continue to be counted in all states and that the will of the people be honored. As Muslims, we put our trust in Allah. We are reminded by our faith to know that the outcomes of our efforts and our affairs belong to Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful. We have encouraged our community from day one to be grounded in faith, to do the necessary work needed to build a more just and equitable society and to stay focused on building towards the future. While we are not too clear yet on what will happen in the next couple of days or even weeks, we must all be willing to protect the will of the voters. Call your representatives and tell them to take a stand for democracy to prevail. Support and join our MAS PACE team to ensure that our community is at the frontlines of fighting for justice.
