I managed to get a new 9X12 painting off the easel this week. Greens are always a challenge. No company makes a green-grass colored paint.
Finally got a new painting off the easel between teaching online and looking in the refrigerator to see what was there to eat.
A pilot friend, unbeknownst to me, wrote to the California Senate and nominated me for this hero award. Thanks Connie! I am honored and tickled.
These are my limited edition serigraph (silkscreen) prints. They average 24X32. I did all the cutting of each screen (sometimes up to 27 for one print) and the printing myself. I did these for 10 years while I lived in Denver and showed my work at Royce Galleries. Printing has limited possibilities, so I went to the Art Students League in Denver and learned Egg Tempera painting from Mark Steven Thompson, Watercolor from Buffalo Kaplinski, and Pastels from Doug Dawson. Once I moved to San Diego, my style and interest changed to Acrylic Landscape Plein-Air painting, which I still do today.
I was asked by Blue Sky Aviation News Magazine to write an article about how I got interested in flying, earning a Private Pilot’s License, and some of my flying adventures.
Fresh off the easel. 9X12 Acrylic
Tried something new...painting with a palette knife. Have to say, it was FUN! 9X12 Acrylics
I went to a paint-out today at Pillsbury Farm in Lakeside, California, about 6 miles away. What a gorgeous morning for painting. It was warm, no wind, and the lighting was spectacular. So peaceful out there among the Eucalyptus and Pine trees. Sometimes, I just sat and listened to the birds sing, and the horses whinny. I got to chat with lots of other painters, pet a Zebra, a horse, and an Australian Sheep dog. It was a VERY GOOD day!
Like trying one Sunflower wasn’t enough punishment, a friend sent a photo of some from her garden. Well...I thought I would be brave and suffer the slings and arrows...and frustration of trying to paint them once again. Conclusion, as pretty as I find them, I find flowers very challenging. So, I think it is back to weeds, walls and windows for me.
My pencil Drawing of my friend’s dog, Bacina. Which is Italian for Little Kiss.
