Martinez Police Department 24.05.2021

Traffic Alert: Please use caution in the area of Muir Rd. at Orleans Dr. for a vehicle that struck a power pole causing damage. There were no injuries, however power is out in that area. PGE is on their way to restore power and fix the damaged pole.

PSA - Officers responded to the 1900 block of Arnold Dr. for a shooting in a residence. A firearm has been recovered and a adult male was injured and transported to a local hospital. There are no outstanding suspects. At this time MPD detectives are currently investigating and processing the scene. Please stay clear of the area. We will provide updates as soon as possible. Update at 6:22pm: The status of the victim is unknown at this time. Officers on scene have taken another resident into custody. This is an active investigation and details will be released as soon as practicable. Update at 7:23pm: MPD units have cleared the residence. MPD Investigations Bureau will be sending out a press release concerning this incident.

We have been notified by residents that they have been received calls from a number that shows up on their caller ID as the City of Martinez Water Department and when answering the phone, they are greeted by scammers claiming to be from the IRS. This is a SCAM where our city number is being spoofed and we would advise you to hang up the phone and discontinue any discussion with the caller. We appreciate your understanding and wanted to keep you informed as scams such as this are becoming more common.

You may notice police activity in the Virginia Hills area near Waverly Rd. We are searching for a missing juvenile who possibly ran away from home. Fabrizio is approx. 5’8, 100lbs, black hair with brown eyes. He was last seen in front of his house on Waverly Rd. wearing a gray Abercrombie & Fitch hoodie with lite colored pants. If seen, please contact the Martinez Police at (925)372-3440. The attached photos were taken today. Update: Fabrizio was possibly seen at 3:22pm on Blue Ridge Dr. Update: Fabrizio was located at 4:57pm and is safe. He will be reunited with his family shortly. Thank you all in our community and beyond for all the calls and alerts of Fabrizio sightings.

Update regarding deceased subject found in Alhambra Creek on Monday, November 16th. Pathologists from the Contra Costa Sheriff Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be an overdose. The visible injuries we originally reported were caused by wildlife post death. The subject’s identity is still being withheld until next-of-kin have been notified.

Making Martinez safer one gun at a time. At 8:45am, MPD officers stopped a vehicle in the downtown area. During a parole search of the vehicle, a sawed-off shot gun was located, and the driver subsequently arrested. Glad this gun is off the streets.
