Mariposa County Fire Safe Council

The Mariposa Fire Safe Council invites you to support the early detection of wildland fires in Mariposa County. Our partner, Ai4 Technologies, is seeking volunteers to allow the installation of air monitoring sensors on the participants property. By volunteering, you will have the opportunity to have a small sensor installed on your property that will continually monitor the air, working with hundreds of other similar sensors in the area to produce the first-ever real-time lo...cal wildfire detection and alert system. Background: Ai4 Technologies has developed a new way to detect wildfire ignition the moment it happens to keep you, your friends and family safe. An Ai4 FireSense wildfire detection camera and weather station was installed on Mt. Bullion in August 2020. The Fire Safe Council is sorry to announce that PG&E has declined to fund the weed eating program this year. Over recent years we have been fortunate and frequent recipients of their support. This season they had more financial requests than they had grant funds to offer. PG&E made a fair and understandable decision to distribute money to communities that have not been funded before. We will continue to search for funding for weed eating, but prospects are not strong, as most fuel removal grants are focused on heavy fuels and a long-term impact for the dollars spent. And we all know the darned weeds grow back quickly. We wish we could provide this service because we know how important it is to each recipient. If you see a potential source of funding please don't hesitate to let us know!

The PG&E Grant for weed eating is fully expended and closed. Thank you to everyone participating! We hope to be able to secure another grant from PG&E in 2021 that would allow us to begin services in the Spring rather than the Fall. We have no control over this and appreciate your patience and understanding in that regard. Services cannot be initiated until we receive funding for any grant. Thank you!
