Fun Fact Friday! The first known U.S. Mardi Gras celebration was held in 1703 in then French Lousiana Capital of Mobile. What?! say you? Yeppers, current Mobile, Alabama can be credited with the first Carnival celebration. It wasn't until 1723, when New Orleans was crowned Capital of Louisana that the Carnival was held in the new State Capital.
