Lone Pine Time Trials 01.07.2021

With the 50th Lone Pine Time Trials coming up fast, it is vital for the Event Management to have everyone's pre-entry accounted for on Motorsportreg.com. The p...rimary reason for the usual delay getting things started on event weekend, especially Saturday, are the last minute walk-up registrations that arrive in the morning. It makes it impossible for our timing and scoring team to get the classes populated and sorted out with run/work groups until all of the entries are final and Registration can close. We are looking into an alternative text or call check in for those that can not arrive in time Friday evening (5:00PM-11:00PM) in Room 32 of the Dow Villa Motel to physically check in. And please understand, your pre-entry payment on Motorsportreg.com is deferred until you actually check in. We do not process your card without confirmation that you are actually there (or on your way). TECH on the morning of the event days is time consuming as it is, but unavoidable if an entrant simply can't get to the Dow Villa before we start closing down check in and TECH. So please help us by registering online now and sharing this request to any and all that you know may be considering or planning on entering the event. It will make a huge difference for getting things started in a much more timely fashion on each day and potentially free up more time for potential fun runs in the afternoons after competition comes to a close. And it will certainly save all of the event staff a lot of unneeded stress. Thanks in advance to everyone. And again, please spread the word for early online registration ASAP! See more

Here's a link to the SCCA Cars & Rules page, including a "Category Allowance Cheat Sheet" which is the "Cliff Notes" of what each class allows in regards to modifications. In general, if the modifications allowance does not specifically say you can, then you can't. Using the search option (Ctrl-F) and typing in the car you have can help filter things down in most cases. This is in reference to the actual rule book download, which is lengthy. https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

We just did a quick visit to the Manzanar Airfield moments ago to see how things held up after dragging the entire runway back in June.

Amidst all of this, I want... no, I really need to reach out to all and express some things. This coming weekend would have been the always epic (and required) Cleanup Weekend for the Lone Pine Time Trials. For the very first time in 50 years, the Lone Pine Time Trials has been postponed to well next year (2021). While I do and fully respect the current state of times right now, I’m struggling a bit with this emotionally. It’s all happening during my ‘watch’. I’ve actually reached out a bit to Craig and Renee Angel. But this is not of my doing. Renee told me "Lone Pine just happens"... it just does. I love and cherish that. The very fastest drivers will be exposed next year... and it wont be the SIM kids.

March 24, 2020 As you may have anticipated, the current pandemic health concerns and precautionary measures being implemented by the U.S. and State Government h...as brought the Lone Pine Time Trials Committee to the unanimous decision this past weekend to postpone the upcoming 50th anniversary Lone Pine Time Trials that was scheduled for May 16th-17th. We are, without any question, very sad to have to make this decision but we are sensitive to the wellbeing and health of all of the entrants, volunteers and supporters during this time of concern and uncertainty throughout the Nation and the rest of the world. At this point, the Lone Pine TT Committee will be looking to reschedule this event to May 15th-16th, 2021. Aside from the numerous unknowns for all of us in the coming months, the weather in the Owen’s Valley becomes extremely hot and windy through the summer and into the fall. Winter conditions can then come at a moment’s notice after the hot and arid season. With 50 years of hosting this event at the same location, the weather trends are known quite well. Rescheduling for later in the year is simply not realistic. Online Entries were showing great signs of this becoming an even bigger event than in years past. We defer payments until the event weekend as each entrant checks in with registration. So none of your entries have been charged at this point. Your email and contact information will be added to our contacts database, if not already, and you will be kept informed in the months ahead. The Lone Pine Time Trials Committee will continue efforts to plan and prepare for the Time Trials next year and update the website and social media pages as we move forward together. We sincerely thank you for your understanding and tremendous support, and wish the very best of health to all of you, your families and communities. Speed safely, friends. We will anxiously await to see you next year! Bret Norgaard- Chairman Lone Pine Time Trials
