"You've always had the power." ~Glinda the Good Witch of the North Since I was a young boy, The Wizard of Oz has been my favorite movie. As a child, I was captivated by the wonder and magic of the film. From Dorothy's arrival in Munchkin Land and the mystical journey with three unusual friends to her run-ins with the Wicked Witch of the West and ultimate encounter with the "Wizard," I got lost in the fairy tale without ever understanding its deeper meaning. As an adult who ...is still very much in tune with his inner child, I still LOVE Oz, but I have grown to appreciate the story on a deeper level. As Glinda reveals to Dorothy this power that dwells within her, she explains to the Scarecrow that Dorothy needed to learn about this power by herself. Then Dorothy shares the lesson she has learned, saying "If I ever go searching for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own back yard because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with." A Course in Miracles makes clear that a great power dwells within us. Lesson 124 of the workbook states, "Let me remember I am one with God." "1. Today we will again give thanks for our Identity in God. Our home is safe, protection guaranteed in all we do, power and strength available to us in all our undertakings. We can fail in nothing. Everything we touch takes on a shining light that blesses and that heals." W-124.1:1-4 Later in the same lesson, we are told, "No miracle can ever be denied to those who know that they are one with God." W-124.6:1 A few years ago, I adopted Glinda to serve as my muse for the ARTbundance Coach Training program I was taking. Daily, I attempt to live from a deep understanding of and gratitude for the power that dwells within me but is not of me. This Divine Essence is not magic or the stuff of fairy tales. As I continue to grow spiritually and pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me always and in all ways, I have come to realize that I am always right where God wants me to be. I love this passage from A Course in Miracles, and it has become a daily prayer for me. "I am here only to be truly helpful.... I am here to represent Him Who sent me. I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do, because He Who sent me will direct me. I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me. I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal." T-2.V-A.18:2-6) No matter what circumstances may present themselves, I can be certain that I am not alone. Life has a way of showing up with hurdles, challenges, and little dramas that will often stop us in our tracks and trigger us to be less than our best selves. A momentary confrontation can balloon into an overwhelming grievance as the ego mind gnaws at it incessantly, like my dog Rocco does with a bone. It's those moments when I try the hardest (often with only little success) to remember who I am and whose I am. Recently, I was reminded of this powerful passage from A Course... in Miracles. "Simply do this: Be still, and lay aside all thoughts of what you are and what God is; all concepts you have learned about the world; all images you hold about yourself. Empty your mind of everything it thinks is either true or false, or good or bad, of every thought it judges worthy, and all the ideas of which it is ashamed. Hold onto nothing. Do not bring with you one thought the past has taught, nor one belief you ever learned before from anything. Forget this world, forget this course, and come with wholly empty hands unto your God." Today marks the beginning of the Triduum in the Roman Catholic tradition. On Holy Thursday (or Maundy Thursday), we recall the Last Supper of Jesus on the night before He was crucified. During the Mass, it is customary for the priest and other ministers to wash the feet of members of the assembly as Jesus did for his apostles. This solemn ritual is deeply meaningful as it is a reminder of the power and beauty of servanthood. Jesus washed the feet of those men who had been hi...s most faithful companions and followers as a way of acknowledging their shared humanity and to demonstrate a love that existed without boundaries. A Course in Miracles challenges us to see our brothers and sisters as innocent children of God. The Course invites us to LOVE without counting the cost. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are capable of seeing others (and ourselves) as God sees all of His beloved children. "Your brother’s sinlessness is given you in shining light, to look on with the Holy Spirit’s vision and to rejoice in along with Him. For peace will come to all who ask for it with real desire and sincerity of purpose, shared with the Holy Spirit and at one with Him on what salvation is. Be willing, then, to see your brother sinless, that Christ may rise before your vision and give you joy. And place no value on your brother’s body, which holds him to illusions of what he is. It is his desire to see his sinlessness, as it is yours. And bless the Son of God in your relationship, nor see in him what you have made of him." (T-20.VIII.3:1-6) Today let's be determined to see everyone illuminated in the light of Christ, who wrapped a towel around His waist, knelt down with a basin and pitcher, and washed the feet of ones no different than you or I. #HolyThursday #HolyWeek #ACIM #LOVE #Spirituality

In Psalm 30, the psalmist wrote, "Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning." Living from a spiritual perspective, we are called to place our faith in the promise that grief, sorrow, and darkness are temporary. When we are faced with challenges and unfavorable circumstances, the ego mind pounces on the "bad thing" that has happened and mulls it over and analyzes it, pushing our minds down a spiraling rabbit hole of despair and fatalism. But we were c...reated in the image and likeness of our Source/God. Miracles are our divine birthright. The miracle comes the second we recall who we are. The Holy Spirit accepts our slightest invitation and helps us to recognize the rising sun in the morning. We are reminded that crucifixion gives way to resurrection. A Course in Miracles puts it this way. "The light has come. You are healed and you can heal. The light has come. You are saved and you can save. You are at peace, and you bring peace with you wherever you go. Darkness and turmoil and death have disappeared. The light has come."
