Dear Make Westing family and friends: Good news, for a change: After three months of uncertainty, social distancing, and separation, we are reopening Friday, June 19th. It’s not a decision we’ve reached lightly. We mourn for those who have passed or suffered from COVID-19, and we grieve for the daily injustices against African-Americans and other people of color. It feels like our nation is coming apart at the seams. We need healing, both physical and emotional.... We want to contribute to this process as best we can; first, by seeing our dedicated and diverse staff working once again; second, by restoring the sense of community that you have helped us build over the past nine years. Know that we fully share your concerns about COVID-19. We are committed to doing everything we can to create a safe environment for our staff and guests. We are strictly and meticulously implementing vast precautions and protocols issued by the Alameda County Board of Health. We will make these guidelines freely available to all guests. For now, we will only be serving guests from 4-10pm (except for the following Monday to start) with takeout orders or outdoor seating on our patio, and adjacent sidewalks. Touchless hand sanitizers will be placed throughout, and groups will be limited and spaced, to facilitate social distancing. To start, customers will only be allowed inside to use the bathrooms. Anyone entering the bar will have their temperature taken via touchless laser thermometer and must wear a mask. Ordering and payment will take place at the front door. Takeout orders (including Capri Sun packets for cocktails to go!) can be placed by calling 510-251-1400 and picked up at the front door. Make Westing has always stood against racial injustice and discrimination. We are proud that we are a diverse bar, with a staff and clientele from all walks of life. The tragic death of George Floyd, among too many others, is a stark reminder that we must be even more vigorous in our support of the rights of all groups suffering injustice. It happens that the date set by Alameda Health for our reopening is Juneteenth -- Freedom Day; we hope you'll join us in marking the occasion as we will be creating cocktail specials to raise funds for Black Lives Matter. We invite you to support our continued efforts to provide a warm, diverse, welcoming, and safe social setting. Thank you for your patience and support during these difficult times.
Given the severity and confusion of recent events related to Covid - 19 as well as recommendations from state and local governments, Make Westing will close today (Sunday March 15th) until medical experts determine it is safe to reopen. In support of the community we are doing all we can on our end to ensure public health and safety. We are closely monitoring developments by state and local agencies and will follow all suggested and mandated requirements and will keep everyone updated as we learn more. While we hate to close our doors, we hope that early, preventative measures will stop larger, more critical problems in the future and we will be able to welcome everyone back as soon as possible. Stay safe.
Getting everything pickled in preparation for Super Bowl Sunday and our Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar! Doors open early at 2:30, no cover charge, extended Happy Hour and plenty of 49er fandom! We relish the thought of a Vince Lombardi trophy coming back to the Bay! (Pickle humor...it's not great.)
We will be closed this Thursday, 1/30 for a holiday buyout. This the last closure of the season. Thanks in advance for your understanding and go niners!
We will open early this coming Sunday 1/19 at 3pm for the Niners game!
