Wondering what happened to you federal IRS refund??? This is what’s happening. I will have to say that what’s happening now is all due to the pandemic. So, last year in March when the pandemic hit, everything including IRS had to close due to COVID. Many of those unprocessed taxes did not get done for 2019. So if you have not received your refund for tax year 2019, just know that IRS is still processing last years. So in lieu of that fall back, all those who have filed tax... year 2020 will have to wait for their tax refund. For 2020 alone, there have been 93.2 million tax returns submitted, out of those only 83.1 million have been processed and only 62 million taxpayers have received their refund. Now, for those who claim tax credits like children and such, those have to be validated by IRS personnel. So your refund will take even longer. But be patient. Do not call IRS, you will be on the phone all day to speak to someone and all they will tell you is that it’s in process. Something you can also do is check online on the IRS website, under where’s my refund.
