In Spite Of The Covid-19 Pandemic, Life Goes On For Juliet Goss... Meet Our Featured Patient Of The Week Juliet Goss And Her Children. Juliet was 13 years old when she first came to my office with her challenging eyeglass prescription that was changing every year. Back then, we fitted her into a 3rd Generation Custom Gas Permeable contact lens that not only provided 20/20 vision, but it also helped to stop her progression of myopia. Fast forward 30 years to where we still see... Juliet every 6 months for her check ups. This time with masks for the whole family! Even though her prescription is -8.50 and -9.00 respectively, she still sees a solid 20/20 with her new "Air Lens" contact lenses with total comfort and eye health. Meet Gary Roll, Our Featured Patient Of The Week... Gary has a wonderful story to share with us, and has been a patient for over 33 years at our office. Due to his severe myopia and astigmatism, Gary still drives 75 miles each way from Agoura Hills for his yearly contact lens exams with Bill Lyon! Requiring a -16.00 Diopter correction, Gary is still able to pass his DMV vision requirements here in California, and with his Custom "Air Lens" design in his left eye along with o...ur "Hi-Definition" Soft lens design in his right eye, Gary will have many more successful years as a patient here at our office. Yes, We Are Open For You Through The Holidays! Over 10% of our patients actually live out of state, but seem to always find time to see us during the months of November and December for their yearly exams and news lenses. For your eye-health and vision needs, we are considered "essential" in the state of California and will remain open for you and your families. For your personal safety here at our office, we are licensed by the Board Of Medical Examiners, and have always maintained extremely high standards for safety and cleanliness. In addition, we have implemented additional rigorous cleaning and sanitation processes to en...sure the safety for all our patients. Constant hand washing, sterilizing of all instruments and surfaces, along with the requiring of masks to worn by staff members and everyone who enters our office is strictly enforced. Our Newest Patient, Pastor Manuel Ancona, From Family Christian Church in Costa Mesa I know he looks like an alien from outer space, but he's really such a wonderful man. Nancy And I Practically Grew Up Together.... Meet Our Featured Patient Of The Week, Nancy Duremdes. Over 40 years ago while I was a training intern, I first met Nancy and her beautiful mother Alma and fitted them both into contact lenses. This was way back in the mid 1970's. Fast forward to 2020, where I can honestly say that I have fitted Nancy into every new generation of contact lenses that I can possibly think of. More recently we fitted her daughter Olivia into contact ...lenses as well. All 3 generations: Alma, daughter Nancy, and granddaughter Olivia have truly been a blessing to us over the years. Meet Pastor Kelly Lohrke, Our Featured Patient Of The Week And His Amazing Story.. All the way from Kansas City, Missouri, Kelly is senior pastor of The Cure Church in Kansas City. He was referred to my office by his long time friend Pastor Omar Lopez to come see us to correct his astigmatism and the need for bifocals. Everyone who comes to our office has a story of their own. Kelly's was a story of redemption after living an angry life full of addictive drugs and numerous bo...uts in mental institutions. He was finally set free by the power of God who came through loud and clear in his life. Aja Was Legally Blind For 20 Years! Her Story...Meet Aja Harrison, Our Featured Patient Of The Week. Aja has Keratoconus, a condition in both of her eyes which results in major scarring and distortion over her corneas. Unfortunately Keratoconus cannot be corrected with eyeglasses or ordinary soft contact lenses. Her vision got so bad that for the past 2 years she could no longer see clearly at work, and was forced to have her husband drive her to and from work every day.... Last month, she went on the internet, typed in Contact Lens Specialists on Google, and when she saw the first listing was Lyon Contact Lens Center, she knew she had to make the call to see us! Fast forward to last week, where Aja finally got her wish: Clear comfortable vision with her new Custom Keratoconus Lenses that I designed for her. Her left lens is a 7th generation "Wonder Lens" that fits perfectly over her cornea. Her right lens is a "Piggy Back'' design...a soft lens that covers and protects her cornea while a secondary lens fits right over the soft lens to provide the vision Aja requires. Aja is definitely one beautiful lady with 2 eyes, and now wears 3 contact lenses! Aja now has crystal clear 20/20 vision in both eyes with total comfort! Aja you now can do all the things we take for granted: you can drive by yourself, work, see your beautiful children's faces, and truly be blessed by the gift of sight you have missed for the past 20 years! 7 years ago, our Pastor Chuck Smith went to be with the Lord: He was an incredible pastor, teacher, friend and example who left his mark on me and millions of people around the world. I have a flood of memories right now remembering our beloved Pastor Chuck. Whether he was speaking about God's healing in front of desperate but grateful parents in their home or hospital, or as I would often see him do: Picking up trash in the church parking lot, my Pastor Chuck was a wonderf...ul example to me. People would often ask me when I became a Christian: Bill, why do you drive so far to go to church? There are hundreds of churches closer to where you live. My answer was always the same: Chuck is my pastor, and I have learned so very much from him and his strong and steady example about God's love for us through His Son Jesus Christ. Now that I'm in my 60's I have so many Godly examples I have learned from Chuck that I model in my own life. Whether it's with my family, my friends, my patients, or with my fellow man. Just an example of Chuck's clear and practical teaching: years ago, my son David's high school teacher died very suddenly. At the memorial service at our church, many of the students and their parents were sad crying for their beloved teacher who had just passed. Pastor Chuck came foward and said the following: JUST REMEMBER, ALL OF YOU...YOU CAN'T GO TO HEAVEN....UNLESS YOU DIE FIRST. Once that was said, it set the tone for the memorial service and where our focus should rightfully be: A joyful celebration for the teacher who was now in heaven and a clear focus towards the prize of heaven for the rest of us. In closing, let me share what Pastor Chuck would close in his sermons over 90% of the time: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you. And be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up his countenance and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26. Hey Chuck.....until we see each other again on the other side. Thank you for your faithful, and steady example you have been to so many of us who love the same God you have served so faithfully for all these wonderful and incredible years:-).....

We Lost Our Beautiful Barbara Last Week... Our beautiful Barbara went to be with the Lord last Monday. Every patient who comes to the Lyon Contact Lens Center has a story to tell. Barbara was 96 years old, and had been my patient for over 20 years. She had her cataracts removed back in the 1960's when implants were not yet available, thus she was able to wear my custom Gas Permeable lenses with excellent vision and comfort. Over the years, our Barbara would come in regularly ...for her appointments to see me. As she hit her mid 80's she required a cane for balance, then a walker which turned into a wheelchair by age 90. On my last visit with her, I went to her rest home for her exam and inserted her lens while she was bedridden. I was never able to see her again due to the Covid-19 epidemic. She was no longer allowed visitors for fear of her contracting illness from the outside. If there ever was a positive woman, it was our Barbara! Always a big smile from her, along with a hug and kiss from me! We already miss you Barbara, but we know that our Lord is taking good care of you! Hard To Believe But True....Combination of eyeglasses and face masks just don't work!!! Millions of people wearing eyeglasses are having major issues with their glasses fogging and smearing over due to breathing with their face mask, that causes their glasses to constantly fog over. Here are some of the steps we are taking: 1. The entire office staff is monitoring our health daily...we are not symptomatic of any illness.... 2. We are respecting the personal space of all patients as an added benefit for your safety. 3. Everyone who enters our building and especially our office are required to wear face masks. 4. All exam room instruments and equipment will always be disinfected for your safety. 5. We will always follow all facts and information coming out of the government sites, health care agencies and news outlets. Since our contact lenses are considered a medical device and classified as a necessary therapeutic for many of our high-risk patients, we are documented as "essential" here in the state of California. Your health and safety will always be our number one concern. Please feel free to keep your appointments when they are scheduled. Look Who Just Dropped By... Meet Jennifer Lucero, who recently relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. Jenn has been a patient at our office for over 15 years.
