This photo is a perfect example of the aging effects the sun has on our skin. This shows a truck driver of 40+ years and the aging effects it had from constant exposure to the left side of her face, from the driver side window. This happens from the Sun’s UV rays breaking down collagen and elastin in the skin, as well as causing sun related age spots. This is why it is so important to protect your skin from the sun, and to use a good quality full spectrum SPF. Now that it is summer, it’s important to go over the reason a good quality sunscreen is so important and why you need to apply every 2 hrs. I do understand that it’s hard to apply sunscreen every 2 hrs to your face if you wear make up. I wear makeup as well. So apply a lotion sunceeen specifically for the face in the morning, after your moisturizer, and then do your best to protect your face from direct contact from the sun, even indoors. And apply sunscreen every 2 hrs to your body. But I don’t need sunscreen when I’m inside, that’s the biggest misconception people have. Most people think they don’t need sun protection when they are inside, but 80% of all UV rays can travel through even double pained windows in any home or building, and 90% for single pained windows. So wear a full spectrum sunscreen (find one with Zinc oxide), physically shield you’re skin from the sun any chance that you get by sitting in the shade outdoors, or wearing a hat, and using blinds or curtains when next to a window indoors, and always reapply your sunscreen every 2 hrs when you get the chance, whether outside or inside. Ask me about a good SPF for the face, that won’t make you greasy, or cause breakouts.
