Lui's Kitchen

The idea of re-opening Lui's does not sound like a bad idea. I would need to seriously talk to my mom and brother about the recipes and find a location outside of California that is business friendly to move too in a few years. So where should I move too???

Sad to hear of a local closure of a restaurant that our family loved going too every Sat morning. There were tell tale signs of an upcoming closure but the food was really good and they had a good crowd. Still those warning signs kept glaring down. So in the future, I will not ignore these signs again and next time I will let the owner know. 1) Nickel & Diming - This may sound small, but if the owners are worried about how much a credit card company is charging and passing to customers, that is a tell tale. 2) No Dinner Hours - Commercial Rent is expensive, landlords don't care if you are open all day or half a day, they just want their full rent 3) Was obvious from the beginning that the owner started with very little cash to help them through the tough months. In the food business, there are many many tough months.

Fried Rice & BBQ Ribs. Remembered some things about cooking fried rice from my mom back in the day and tried it out tonight and it was good! Did not have the BBQ Pork so used bacon instead. Will make BBQ Pork this week hopefully! Added some Chinese BBQ Ribs and that is what I call a Sunday Dinner!

Just got done watching first episode of "The Quan Dynasty" on Netflix which is about a Chinese Family with a Chinese Restaurant. Pretty far reach of what I experienced growing up, but hey its kind of funny.

Found this place in Barstow this past weekend. Pretty close to what we served back in the day. Will be going back in a few weeks to try other dishes. Also found another location in Northern California off the 99 fwy. Going to try that place also and will report back with findings!

It is with much great sadness to say that we lost a dear member of the Lui's Kitchen Family. Mr. Martinez otherwise known as "Amigo" back in the day passed away recently. He was not like any other employee, he was family. God Bless him and his family during this time.

In Search of another Chinese Restaurant that our family can call our favorite. Today went to lunch at what used to be our favorite Chinese Restaurant that was recently bought out by someone else. (this is my 2nd visit since new ownership, first visit was not so good) Our favorite 2 guys who waited and served us for the last 10 years are gone and replaced with 4 waitresses that don't ever recognize us and today my daughter got her lunch and finished it while I waited 27 minutes for mine to show up before I can start chowing down, and they forgot my chili sauce which I asked for twice! If you know where I'm talking about you can bet that we will not be going there anytime soon!

Most of this kids are cute and funny with the exception of one spoiled kid.
