This is in Huong Hoa, where ethnic minorities live. Wish I was there in person cuz I have loved to visit with them. They have their own language, you'll notice ...a difference in some of their dress and even faces. They're often forgotten because they live in their own communities in the mountains, so they were grateful to see LATO. For my Vietnamese friends, you can hear their language sounds like Central accent until you realize you can't understand any of the words. :-) I can't wait to be able to visit in person! Just saw from a local’s comment that LATO’s truck got stuck in the mud yesterday distributing supplies to ethnic minorities in Huong Hoa, a mountainous region. ... They shared the pic below of people pushing the truck out. I haven’t heard yet from my parents, hope they made the trip back safely. The comment below it is also amazing, thanking us for the help, saying people cried because they were so grateful. See more

My parents' home is working almost round the clock! The men go out to distribute the goods while the women stay and package them up for the next day. Good morning, friends! LATO has made it to Xa Hai Tan Hai lang Quang Tri. There was a break in the rain, dad got dry clothes on and a life jacket! The...y are exhausted but happy to be helping and fueled by your love and supportthank you!! My mom says stores are raising prices and running out of goods. (So bags may have diff. products--we are getting what we can!) She also says she, in return, has received kindness: people who have gas stoves have brought hot rice to hershe hasn’t had any in days and is still without power. She also says ppl are drinking fish sauce because they believe it’ll fight the cold and water as they’ve been standing in it for days. I’m pretty sure that’s not the thing to do but... Thank you all again for your incredible generosity. It's been difficult but we are on our way! (not me, my parents who are there.) For the past two days they've... been delivering fresh "banh chung" to families. Meanwhile my parent's home is like a "wade-thru" with people coming to get food. Here's a look at what they did. I'm a day behind because of time difference. I just now received more video and pix of today's activities that I'll post tomorrow. Friends, an update: I still have not been able to contact my parents but a relative who’s been helping with distribution and rescuing ppl just sent me these pho...tos, and someone in the village has video of my dad as he was out distributing the bánh chng. They spanned out in different areas both taking ppl to higher ground and giving out food. Please see captions for more info. I told the electricity is out on purpose for safety because of the water. Also, people have gone days without food. They have no drinking water, obviously no life jacketsbut also no dry clothes. Our first concern is to get them to safety, give them food, etc...but illness will be a concern moving forward. My heartfelt thanks to all of you awesome people who’ve contributed. I have great news!!! I’m happy to report we just had the first 1000 bánh chng delivered to my parents’ home and because they are ready to eatwe must get th...em out ASAP. People have gone days without food. We are awaiting canoes (that’s what I’m calling them) and volunteers to help us deliver. This is just our first step. (They are bagging it up as you read this!!) Thank you everyone for your supportwe couldn’t do this without your love! In case you missed the other update we are not giving out instant noodles. People have no way of cooking or boiling water and these glutinous rice cakes with pork and Mung bean are more nutritious and ready to eat. We are also distributing cooking supplies and other food. Please pray for my parents and our volunteers as they deal with dangerous conditions to help make this happen!
