Spent some time with sewer folks in the El Cerrito hills for a demonstration of high pressure debris cutter. It has a camera with a very high pressure cutter to remove roots, rocks, concrete and protruding laterals. Pacific Sewer Maintenance has the only truck on the west coast. If you have a need for this or got questions... give me a call. 925 787-8884.
Getting together with David Patzer on Friday and looking at 2018 to what kind of of work is on the horizon. Let me know what you need.
Attending a SFBS Collection System Training Day at the City of Antioch Corporation Yard. Going speak on How to Manage your Manager...and do you want to? Maybe I will remember to take a few pictures.
Got to speak and hang out at 2017 Sewer Summit on Oakland yesterday. Lots of great topics and speakers. I spoke on Defensible SSO Calculations. My friend Lenny Rather give a history of Collection Systems at OLSD.
Headed to Merced to provide some Traffic Control Training for CWEA collection system workers. Looking forward to a good day.
CWEA SFBS Golf day at Monarch Bay in San Leandro. Fun times.
Some great training at Lawrence Labs in the Berkeley hills. Good classroom and outside demos. Lots of fun with great people. Until next year.
Bay Section Collection System Committee gets together to plan another great training event for CWEA.
HAppy New Year to All.........
Tomorrow ; Wednesday December 2nd at 0900hr at the Englander in San Leandro.....the Collections System committee of the San Francisco bay Section of the CWEA will be planning for our training events for 2016. About 25 individuals from all around the bay will critique this past year and schedule next year. If you have interest in this; please come on down or give me or someone on the Committee a call. We look forward to another great year.
Spent a whole day with the selection team for CWEA awards.....saw some great stuff and talk with some great people. The results will be on display in January at the Annual Awards Banquet. See you all there.
Just starting a new project with a long established Sanitary District in the North Bay. New folks have come into the Collection System and there is a desire for some team building and a look at job practices. This is a great time to recognize all of the good things that everyone is doing and to maybe tweet a thing or two. This is going to be fun. I will keep you posted.
Yesterday was the Pre-con day for the very last Northern Regional Training Conference. Gave a presentation on OERP to a group of 100 collection system attendees. Great day, good learning. Too bad it will be the last. Enjoy the rest of the conference.
City of San Carlos Sewer Crews are trained on the SOP for their two Vactors. Great input from the whole group. Who's next?
Some good training for the City of Windsor. Lani Goode of West-Yost and I completed a full day of OERP and SSO OVERFLOW ESTIMATIONS. Now they are up to date. Hope to see them again real soon.
Steady work on helping Collection System Operations get better. Just finished West Bay Sanitary District. City of San Carlos and City of Windsor are next on the list. Give me a call and see if we can work on improving how your field crews are working on making zero SSO's their goal.
Calculating sewer overflow volume is a piece of cake if you know how. Call me and we can put a class together. Don't get caught guessing!
Worked with a great group of guys at the City of Millbrae. They are now trained on estimating the volume of a sanitary seer overflow . Thanks for a fun morning.
Starting a new project with West Bay Sanitary District on Tuesday. Going to look over all of their SOP's and Directives. Evaluate the crews on the jobsites and give input on ways they can improve. They are already a very good district; but nobody in perfect. I look forward to working with the folks of West Bay Sanitary District
Louis Consulting wishes Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone and can't wait to you all in 2015
Working with Lani Good from West Yost Engineering on a project for the City of Davis. We are looking at their SSMP and ERP, evaluating equipment and crew size. Great bunch of people and a fun place to hang out at when not working.
Even in Europe, sewer workers look for manhole covers. Right one is from London, and the left one is from Bergen, Norway
City of Benicia is fully trained on Overflow Estimation. Very attentive group of folks. Good to see cities and agencies doing the right thing. Training todays employees for tomorrows work.
Working with the City of Antioch, evaluating crew performance and equipment SOP's. One picture of crew vac'ing down to a lateral repair. The other is the house of a very long time friends that moved to Arizona. The jobsite was across the street. Hot day in Antioch. Crews worked well. One of the employees for Antioch was the son (Eric) of a guy I worked with at CCCSD for 25 years (Jimmy Lujan). Good to know that family tradition is being carried on.
View from the Berkeley Hills by Tilden Park after conducting a class for Lawrence Labs Berkeley........good day y'all.
Talk a class of 8 today in Willits. Defensible SSO Estimation. Spilled some water outside and calculated the amount. Lots of estimations but not many correct until after the class. I would like to return and work with these folks. Fun time.
It is not a very good picture, but it is of a very good friend Tim Page-Bottorff from Arizona. He was the key note presenter for an ASSE Conference in San Ramon today. I could not let him present without being there and enjoying his talk. (Humor in Safety)He did a great job. Congrats Tim!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of our friends and associates. Looking forward to a fun and exciting 2014
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.......be safe while traveling and enjoy your families. Seems like lots of cities and districts want to get some things done by the end of the year, so I have been busy helping them out. A project in the San Jose area with a private community is in the works and I hope it will finish out the year and continue in the new year. That's all for now !!
Been busy with DKF Solutions presenting classes on Defensible Overflow Calculating for Sanitary Sewer Overflows to many of the fine Collection system in the Bay Area. CoCoCounty work is going to start soon and of course city of Palo Alto is sending some work our way. Nose to the grindstone........
Still busy with projects in Palo Alto, Concord and Co Co County. Summer time vacation schedules and end of year stuff, makes for slow work.............but that means I get to have some fun also. Hope everyone has enjoyed their time off and now we need to watch out for all of the kids going to and from school.
Got picked for the Stonehurst Project in Alhambra Valley part of Martinez. This is a 47 home subdivision that for the last 20 years has been on a private small diameter low pressure septic type system. The project is to determine if the existing system can be modified and adapted, and then piped to the extreme end of the CCCSD Sewer System about 1/2 mile away. Yippee. Looking forward checking things out and working with some great people and working with Harris and Associates of Concord. Time to get working.
Continued work with City of Palo Alto and have about a half dozen training sessions with David Patzer for the month of May. Going to start a project for the City of Concord. Final interviews with Contra Costa County on their Stonehurst Project. Getting busy so I can take off for 4 weeks in June/July and again in September for a couple of weeks. This is fun!
Great time at the CWEA Annual Conference in Palm Springs. Lots of technical sessions with new items for discussion and lots of new stuff in the Vendor Faire. I am exhausted after 5 days of work and fun!!
Looking forward to attending CWEA Annual Conference in Pa Springs. April 16-19th. Good learning and good times will be had.
Demonstrating a 2 gallon overflow across a paved surface. You would be amazed how far it will run. Down the gutter, at least 60 yards away. Learn how to Calculate SSO Volumes. If you are not practicing and training to your standards, you are behind.
Attended the first meeting for the CWEA Annual Conference for 2014 in Santa Clara. It takes 14 months of planning to put on one of these successful events. We have a great group of people and we all plan to put on the best conference ever............keep you posted.
January was a busy month, worked with Palo Alto on their Collection System Operations Evaluation, multiple training seminars on Overflow Estimation and a couple of Pump Station Emergency Response Training classes. It is my opinion that most agencies are behind on the training that the State and Regional Boards are looking for when it comes to Responding to Emergencies. Give me a call if you think I can help you. Also attended the San Francisco Bay Section Annual Awards Banquet. Great night and Congratulations to all of the award winners.
Getter' done.....
A great year of training events and working with great folks in the Collection System arena. Looking forward to another year of the same. No time to waste, getting at it on January 2nd with a team meeting...............here's hoping for the best, for all of you.
Heading to Sebastopol on Wednesday for a Pump Station Emergency Response training class. If you haven't thought about it, you probably aren't ready for it. Always train for and to the anticipated problems and then you will be ready.
Scheduled four visits to the yard to meet with the crews in December. Hopefully weather and crew assignment align and we can get all of the information needed to do our evaluation. As usual.....keep you posted.
It is on.....setting up dates/times to meet with crews to find what and how and when and where and why....... We already know the who. This is how it starts. Stay tuned for updates.
Starting a project with a group of good people for the City of Palo Alto. We are going to evaluate their collection system and make reccomendations for improvement. I will keep you posted as things go along.
Many people have asked if I have a webpage. Well this is the first step....aa Facebook page. Click on the the "like" if you like. Thanks.
