Introducing..... Michelle Balisi, MS, LMFT Hi! I’m Michelle Balisi and I’m really excited to be a part of Lotus Rising Holistic Therapy. As a Southern California native, I am still new to San Diego County, but am enjoying exploring everything it has to offer, especially the beaches (I LOVE being at the beach especially while on vacation)! The earlier part of my life was well thought out and executed (at least I thought it was), but as the saying goes, Life is what happe...ns to you when you are busy making other plans. And through my journey I learned first-hand about the resiliency, strength, flexibility, and intrinsic motivation many of us have, but so easily forget. My style of therapy is based on the foundation of curiosity, exploration, collaboration, empathy, and of course non-judgment. I am LGBTQIA2S+ and multicultural affirming, and I treat individuals, couples, families, and groups comprised of all ages. I am passionate about serving diverse populations and am mindful about the intersections of culture, ethnicity, race, sexuality, gender, and language and its effects on mental health wellness. I specialize in working with those who experience relational issues, stress, trauma, life transitions, grief, loss, bereavement, and mood disorders. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, it may not be a surprise that I value relationship. After all, humans are relational beings. Our interactions with others, amongst other variables, impact how we experience reality. We all have different experiences in life, and most of us will face challenges that may seem unbearable at times. So much so, that we can find it difficult to separate ourselves from the actual problems we face. The good news is, we don’t have to face those challenges alone! I look forward to meeting and connecting with you on your path to discovering unrecognized and hidden possibilities within to enhance your relationships and your life.

Roxy, taking a break from sessions to illustrate the benefits of exercise on mental health. Simply moving our bodies can give us a break from current worries and damaging self talk. We know that exercise is good for maintaining good mental health, but did you know it can also be used to assist in treating chronic mental illness? Scientifically speaking, exercise increases neurogenesis in the hippocampus, the area of our brains associated with regulating emotions, learning... and memory. Go Roxy Go!! Get those neurons firing!! . . . #mindfulness #mentalhealth #mentalwellness #ptsd #dbt #cbt #grieftherapy #therapy #familytherapy #useyourvoice #empoweryouth #teencounseling #carlsbad #lotusrisingtherapy #selflove #carlsbadstrong #carlsbadcounselor #anxietysupport #depressionrelief #support #psychologytoday #therapistsofinstagram #carlsbadbusiness #mindandbody

Watercolors teach us to go with the flow. Often thoughts/ideas begin one way and when you allow a little color (life) and direction (purpose) the end result is something unexpected and beautiful.

Creative expression can foster calmness, clarity, and healing. Expressing ourselves through art allows us to tell our story safely often bringing to light new thoughts and emotions. This week at Lotus we focused on our inspirational rock garden and took home those creations that especially touched each of us. #mindfulness #mentalhealth #mentalwellness #ptsd #dbt #cbt #grieftherapy #therapy #familytherapy #useyourvoice #empoweryouth #teencounseling #carlsbad #lotusrisingtherapy #selflove #carlsbadstrong #carlsbadcounselor #anxietysupport #depressionrelief #support #psychologytoday #therapistsofinstagram #carlsbadbusiness

Dispelled the idea that wearing a mask gets in the way of communicating... impromptu teen group today! In fact, wearing a mask encourages us to look each other in the eyes when communicating.... and, our eyes don’t lie. #lotusringtherapy #drpaulekman #microexpressions

Summer Camp Count Down!!! Lotus Rising is so excited to announce our 2020 Summer Camp Line Up!! While life isn’t always easy on our children and teens, the last couple of months have been especially challenging. ... Social isolation and the lack of healthy coping skills (turning to TV, video games, and food) has led many down a path that results in feeling alone, worried and stressed. Common worries we are hearing here at Lotus Rising are. I am worried my friendships will change when I return to school I have lost out on life. I feel alone. I feel like I have no control over anything in my life. With so much uncertainty, imagine a place where these feelings can be heard and understood, where others feel the same, where they will be met with me too! They are not alone. Their pain is not unique. Their worries and fears are valid. But it can still be isolating. You may be seeing acting out behaviors, shutting down, perfectionism, depression, and/or anxiety. Let’s stop this cycle!! Lotus Rising’s Summer Camps will utilize mindfulness, reflection, community, movement and creativity to bring awareness, normalcy, and some peace to our children and teens in a fun and safe environment! Go to www.lotusrisingtherapy.com to begin the registration process.
