We’re in the home stretch of this winter’s full teacher training. Evaluating online practice classes today in prep for one-on-one mentoring. So proud of what these six teachers have accomplished in the last couple of months. Proof that a quality yoga teacher training CAN happen online! /Coming soon: online Intro to Teaching Prenatal Yoga workshop/ [Image: Jeanna smiles proudly on the left side of the frame, left hand in a thumbs up gesture in front of her laptop screen on the lower right side of the frame. Got my chai, ready to go for another awesome Friday of teacher training! Today we’re covering postpartum issues, alignment and sequencing for the postpartum body, and playfully incorporating babies and toddlers into the practice! And with the talented teacher trainees in our cohort, this will be an especially fun day! [image: Jeanna smiling with wide, excited eyes. Her dark brown hair is pulled back, with choppy bangs over her forehead. She wears a blue t-shirt and is holding a white mug. In the background is her yoga studio with some yoga props on the floor.]

This is how our studio looks after an afternoon of practicing the variety of options for prenatal savasana with our teacher trainees. Rest is so important, especially when growing a whole new human. The right prop configuration can support just about any expectant parent throughout pregnancy for the most satisfying release. Aaahhhh!!!!

Prepping for our Anatomy & Physiology module with some new anatomical sketches. I’m loving this new set of pens to outline things in different colors, then I finish them off with the magic of photoshop. This really fulfills my strong artistic side. Honestly, I could sketch body parts all day! No better way for me to get ready for what is sure to be a fun anatomy class this Friday, day one of this year’s pre/postnatal yoga teacher training.

As soon as the holidays ended, I excitedly jumped into preparing for our next Teacher Training and Mentorship Program, which kicks off in just two weeks on Friday, January 22. Supporting new teachers is a passion of mine and our training is always a highlight of my year. However, with the chaos that exploded in our nation's Capitol this week, even the most rewarding work is difficult to focus on. As I watched the events unfold live on Wednesday, and the unfolding news ever si...nce, I have been reminded of my responsibility to be part of the solution to the injustices in our nation. Given my skill set, naturally I'm focused on disparities in perinatal care and family services among marginalized groups. Black birth givers dying at a rate four times that compared to whites is outrageous and inexcusable. While the work is never easy, there is so much I can do to make a difference in closing these gaps, starting with spreading the benefits of yoga to those who need it most. Yoga, of course, is not just exercise. Particularly in the childbearing year, it's community. It's connection. It's access to better birth and parenting options. It's grounding. It's confidence through one of life's greatest transitions...and so much more! Pre/postnatal yoga teachers have the opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of families they serve. With this in mind, Lotus Blossom's program is founded on values of social justice and humanitarian service. In unprecedented times of hardship and civil unrest, the gifts of yoga are needed now more than ever. We are committed to disseminating these gifts to those who need it most- as such, BIPOC scholarships are available. Our final registration period will be open this Tuesday, January 12 through Saturday, January 16. There is no time like the present to serve your community through teaching pre/postnatal yoga. Let's make a difference in the world together!

Oh the "pregnancy don'ts"! So many expectant people are met with so much judgment about what they should do with their own bodies. Some of the advice is based in evidence, but far more is misguided at best or just plain wrong. Our teacher training tackles this issue, looking at evidence to support commonly accepted cultural truths about pregnancy, the harm of hearing "don't" all the time, and what prenatal yoga teachers can do to support their students in the face of all of this unsolicited advice. Our online mentorship program, combining synchronous and asynchronous learning starts on January 22. Early bird registration, with a few perks, is open until December 8. Only 10 available spots total and they're beginning to fill. Don't miss your chance! Link in bio.
