Here is a shot of Chief, the Los Gatos Town dog in the 1940s, entering the real estate office of Mr. Eugene Rounds. Since the spring door opened outward, Chief had an ingenious system of gaining entrance - he beat on the door with his paw until it started to bounce open, then inserted his paw into the opening. Los Gatos Town History #losgatostown #history #Repost @townoflosgatos #tbtLG - Forbes Mill ceased to be used for the manufacture of flour in 1887. It was damaged in the 1906 earthquake. In 1916, Pacific Gas and Electric tore down the three top stories, and in 1929 the remaining story was razed. All that remains is the annex, built in 1880. Over the years, the annex has been used as part of an ice-plant operation, a PG&E substation, a youth center, and a history museum (its collections are now part of New Museum Los Gatos). The annex boasts its original stone walls and interior redwood beams. #LosGatosHistory #tbt #ThrowbackThursday #losgatos
