Our club helped to hide 2000 Easter eggs in a local park and finished off with pizza. It was so great to be together in person safely...everyone was at least partly vaccinated!
Rotary is a very caring and sharing community so it's encouraged to attend meetings of other clubs. Today some of us attended the virtual meeting of Solvang Rotary. What a fun club and great meeting! There was also a great presentation by Santa Barbara Foodbank--who is doing amazing work to support our community.
Happy 116th Anniversary of Rotary International! The Rotary Foundation, which all Rotarians contribute too has done immeasurable good for people all over the globe. And being a Rotarian in your community enriches your own life and that of your own community. As RI President Holger Knaack says, "Rotary opens opportunities for you to live a richer, more meaningful life, with friends around the world." Happy Rotary Day 2021!
Central Coast Rotary Clubs are offering a series of free talks to open up a conversation locally about race and equity. Join Rotarian Myke Rousell for this free lunchtime discussion.
The Little Club That Can and Does is at it again...or still, actually! Since October, several club members have been putting together craft and goodie bags for the children of families that need food support from the weekly food distribution at Bethania Lutheran Church. These members, donating out of their own pockets, have spent hundreds of dollars and hours organizing these biweekly bags. The Club will be augmenting their efforts through the end of June! We are so happy to be able to bring a little joy to a child's life during these challenging times. (And thanks to support from students at Dunn School and at Youth Empowered for assembling the bags!)
Not a member of Rotary? Interested? Reach out to us...we'd love to tell you more!
Our club collected 29 turkeys and over $1000 for SYV People Helping People so they can buy more for families in need. The coat drive was a great success--and it's not over! Look for our decorated boxes around the Valley.
Our club is doing a turkey and coat drive and will be at the Mission, Sat. Nov. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. They will be distributed by our friends at PHP! We will also accept cash donation for PHP the same afternoon. So, go through your closet and look for a gently used warm coat (or buy a new one!), then go buy a turkey and we will see you on the 21st!
Listen to these Rotarians in our District (Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Kern Counties) sharing what Rotary means to them!
Several club members joined Past President Judy Canby to help her raise money for the Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus program. She pledged $10 for every mile we walked at the beautiful Sunny Fields Park, on top of her other polio walking fundraising efforts. She and her friends who pledged to support her 100 mile walk are donating over $1000 to the Foundation to help eliminate polio from the planet forever!
Our Club is at it again! This time club members, helped by students at Dunn School and Youth Empowered, filled bags with Halloween treats for families that have been relying on food assistance during these tough times through weekly distributions at Bethania Lutheran Church. Way to go club members, Chris Phillips Bashforth, Casey Bemis, Judith Canby and Inge-Lise Pedersen! We are the Little Club that Can and Does!
Our members are showing their love and pride in our club and Rotary! We are the Little Club that Can and Does!
