LACCEA doing good in our community!

LACCEA hosted a "Focus Wellness Hike" this Saturday at Schabarum Park in Rowland Heights. Small groups were lead on a 2 mile hike by staff and Board Members. The weather was perfect and the hike was much needed. Mental health is so important, especially now, as we live in through this COVID-19 Pandemic. The event was coordinated with all the safety precautions in mind. Temperature Testing, COVID-19 Wellness Check Forms and Hand Sanitizers, were only a few of the steps taken to ensure a safe program for all. Thank You to LACCEA Board Member, Michael Solis and Administrative Assistant, Andrea Aguilar for coordinating this event.

National Adoption Day! Today Saturday,November 21, 2020!!

National Adoption Day will be observed on Saturday, November 21, 2020. National Adoption Day is a collective effort to raise awareness of more than 120,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States. The first National Adoption Day was inspired by the innovative efforts of Michael Nash, a former presiding judge of The Edmund Edelman Children's Court in Los Angeles County. Judge Nash opened the court on Saturdays, engaged the volunteer efforts of cour...t personnel and finalized adoptions to reduce the backlog of one of the busiest courts in the nation. Each child was treated as if this was their own special day. The new adoptive family came up to the bench to take photos with the judge. Each child received a teddy bear to commemorate the day. The celebrations have grown and there are planned events throughout 400 cities across the nation. Policy makers, practitioners and advocates have collaborated to that there is a light shining as the dreams of more than 75,000 children in foster care have come true as part of National Adoption Day. How exciting!!! Los Angeles County made history on Tuesday with the election of Supervisor-Elect Holly Mitchell! For the first time the County of Los Angeles will be represented by an all-women Board of Supervisors. Together, we will make sure everyone in Los Angeles County thrives!

Scholarships are open to LACCEA members, family and referred friends. Scholarships are to be used to financially assist with College, University, Trade School or Approved Certified Programs....
