This is wonderful! I just signed up to offer help as well to any of these professionals in CA #inthistogether https://www.coronavirusonlinetherapy.com/ PLEASE SHARE FOR MORE EXPOSURE TO THOSE WHO NEED THIS:... For those on the front lines- first responders, nurses, doctors, grocery workers, etc.- there are therapists who want to support you and work with you through this. A colleague has created a network/directory of clinicians who will see you in the short term for a substantially reduced rate. I also just signed up to help. We are here for you in these unprecedented times.
This is an excellent reminder. Which I absolutely need... as a mom who is homeschooling AND providing teletherapy to all my clients. #traumainformedparentingANDhomeschooling Breath, breath again... be present... keep breathing! We are ALL in this together. #grace How are you all doing?! How are you navigating working from home AND homeschooling?!

Alo...ng with biblical instruction on how to raise children who grow up to become passionate Jesus followers, this conference will also offer many different break out sessions. You are able to attend 3! And BONUS... I will be teaching one of those breakout sessions on Trauma Informed Parenting. Excellent article!
I teach the children and families I work with every day the importance of emotional regulation and mindfulness. One of my favorite go-to techniques is Cookie Breathing. This technique combines imagery or visualization with deep breathing. 1st- imagine fresh baked cookies coming out of your oven (or really make them) remember they are too hot to eat BUT smell delicious! 2nd- smell the cookies by inhaling deeply through your nose filling up your lungs with the deliciou...s aroma! 3rd- cool the cookies down by exhaling slowly through your mouth. 4th- repeat 4-5 times. 5th- feel calmer and more regulated. Enjoy these 50 other ways to teach your child how to regulate their emotions!
Yes! #normalizetherapy
I regularly teach this to the children and families I get to work with. This is such a helpful handout! When you’ve flipped your lid you become emotionally disregulated. You are unable to access your upstairs brain (logic). You must take a time out, utilize positive self care strategies, and then revisit the issue once your brain is put back together. Regulation is key! Regulating our emotions is essential for healthy communication and relationships!
This morning started off a little rocky. My daughter began to cry and said she did not want to do school today. Honestly, this usually frustrates me. But today, I remembered to breathe! I regulated my emotions, gathered her up in my arms, and validated her feelings. I held her. I breathed with her. I sang over her. I sang about how much I loved her and who she is. All her strengths. She melted into me. She was then able to breeze through all her assignments while I drank my coffee! Today will be a great day. One breath at a time. #emotionalregulation #coffee #homeschool
