Jessica Miller-Rauch with a 35kg Clean and Jerk PR! This was from almost three weeks ago, Jess is preparing for the Disney Tinker Bell Half Marathon on May 8th, in Anaheim! We used the Olympic lifts early on in her training to increase coordination, explosiveness, and strength. Distance athletes need strength work in order to decrease the risk of injury, improve motion economy and achieve longer, stronger, and faster strides! So proud of you, your going to crush it Jess!!

2016 SCYWA Lift-A-Thon!! Hello Everyone! This weekend marks the two year anniversary of the second fundraiser for the Southern California Youth Weightlifting Association (SCYWA). Many of you may remember either participating or supporting and donating towards this organization last year.... For those who have not heard, the Southern California Youth Weightlifting Association is a not for profit organization that reaches out to local youth through the means of health, wellness, and Olympic style weightlifting. In addition to providing scholarships as well as after school programs for today's youth, the SCYWA uses the sport of Olympic weightlifting as a vehicle to encourage healthy life habits and choices. On Saturday, February 27th, I will be participating in a fundraiser event held by Chikara Sport, in Whittier, CA. The fundraiser starts starts at 10:00 am and I am looking for anyone who would be interested in supporting this organization by donating!! There are two ways you can donate; either a flat rate donation of your choosing, or a per kilo donation. The per kilo donation is where it starts getting really fun, and on Saturday I will literally be lifting to raise money. With the per kilo donation, donors pledge anywhere from 10 cents to one dollar per kilo of weight I lift! The amount donated will be based on your per kilo donation, against my combined total at the end of the day. The total amount will be based on the combination of my heaviest Snatch and Clean and Jerk lifts at the end of the day! The pressure is on, since the more I lift, the more that will be donated! Last year we raised over $500 and I want to get to at least $600 this year! Please let me know what and how much you would like to pledge. Lastly, since this is a not for profit 501(c)3 company, you will be receiving a tax deductible receipt for your donation. Get in contact with me through email, text, or Facebook if you are interested in supporting this great organization!! Thank you!
